That sounds like a bad actuator, I could hear mine, but what it was trying to do was make the full movement, but would not and would reset....You probably need the actuator assembly...

Damn i have the same problem of the drivers door locks not working properly. is there anyway i can fix it for a low cost?

Default Driver's Door Lock Fixed for $5.50

I ordered the $5.50 part from allelectronics dot com...and using the link above was able to successfully remove the driver's door panel and get the remote entry to work again on my wife's '02 RX (112K miles). I'll post pics of the DIY soon. I was shakin' at times when I was modifying (drilling) through some small plastic thingies. But it effin' works! Beats the h_ll out of paying Lexus $230 for just their part.

Same problem here. Driver's door electric lock/unlock does not work via remote or interior lock/unlock buttons; manual lock works fine via key and interior old school lever. I can see the manual lock lever move minimally. I'm looking forward to twa2k's pics of the DIY.

i feel terrible not adding in a helpful way but mine has been broken for a while. i know it is the solenoid, any ideas where i can get the part online for not that much? i'm going to DIY since i'm a broke ass college kid haha

Do a search on DIY piggy-back lock for about $5.-$10. It's not bad at all and definitely the way to go if you're a BACK!
