RX300 Rear Center Brake Light

It may not be simple, but you need to pull off the whole large interior panel behind the bulb. It is fastened by plastic pull-out fasteners. You may need strong fingers. I did it once about 2 years ago.

Do just wat bob said. I watched my mechanic do it. At first, after you pull of the whole top plastic piece, you'll probably be confused at all the push pieces...but then you should be able to easily figure out the rest.
Is your light out indicator...on? Because I had the same problem, and it's a 2000 rx problem...make sure that when u take the bulb out you test it to make sure that it is blown, and not electrical problems. My mechanic checked it and it was blown, but my indicator still shows that it's out. It's not, and neither are any of the other lights...on the whole car! So don't be confused by this.
good luck,
ajk

I changed mine a couple of months back. It was pretty easy - about a 5 minute job. I did manage to loose a clip though. So, now I can occasionaly hear it josteling around in the rear door when i open/close it.
As far as I could tell, there is no other way of going about it.
Good luck, and be easy on the clips!

The rear center mounted brake light went out and the rear light indicator now appears on the display concole.
I went to AutoZone this morning and purchased a pair of 921LL (long Life) bulbs for $3.00. While I was still parked at AutoZone, I popped out the plastic panel and removed the light assembly to install the new bulb. The whole thing took me less than 2 minutes. Of course, I did a word search in this forum to lessen the "how to" tme.
