Hey whoa this site has changed in 2 days lol so NE wayz. My mom was picking me up from school yesterday and as I was walking toward the car I noticed this weird whine to the car. As I got closer my mom stated that she herd it to. She said she thought it might be the muffler. If you go around back it sounds like its somthing under the car. This just started happening yesterday I guess and we just got the car back in Feb. We later (after driving somewhere) opened the hood. I dont think I herd it while we were mocing. It seemed to sounds like it was in sink with some of the belts moving with the motor. What is this strange noise? Its not to loud but you can tell it hasnt always been there. She is going to take it in to.

If the fluid gets low in the power steering reservoir you can get this kind of noise. Try turning the wheel and see if the noise changes. At any rate you should take it in, as it may be a leak in the system that caused the fluid to get low in the first place.

The noise went away today, we still took it in but couldn't find ne thing so they made a note. Well glad its gone.

Regarding the sound that you heard coming from the car.... I took my 01 RX into my local Lexus dealer recently and had it checked. I complained about the engine or something in the engine compartment making a high pitched whistling sound and the engine shaking. The service receipt says that the cause was the pully making a squeaking noise and a slight oil leak. They checked for the whistling noise from the engine compartment and a noise from the crankshaft pulley. They replaced the crankshaft pulley due to the squeak, and replaced the crankshaft seal due to the slight oil leak. Hope that helps a bit. =)
