Default Celsius/Farenheit switch?

I see not many people are having these types of problems but maybe someone knows the solution.

I have imported my lexus rx300 (2001) from US to Europe. Apart from the radio frequency problem I posted earlier I cannot swith to celcius from farenheit, although I see on the display a C sign which is sort of turned off but makes me hopeful that it might be possible to switch.

any hints?

Default How to change display to show celcius?

I see it in the display, dimed out, but how can I change my display to show the temperature in celcius? My wife drives the car sometimes and she is from another country and is always asking what the temperature is. TIA

Well to change from F to Celcius, your wife can memorize the formula.

T(C*) = [ T (*F) - 32 ] x 5/9

I am sure this is not what skippy911 is lookign for ..

but for mental conversion try [T (*F) -32 ] x 1/2
why be accurate when approximaiton will be good enough?

I think you're right, but let me add C =( (F+40)*5/9) - 40
[In the other direction, F = ((C+40)*9/5) - 40 ]

To make it more exciting be absolute - compute to Rankin or Kelvin!

For Kelvin its

T (C) = T(K) - 273.15

If you want to convert from Fahrenheit to Kelvin, then you must convert from
Farenhiet ---> to Celcius ---> to Kelvin

Lol, I'm taking Chemistry and Majoring in BioChem, Therefore i must memorize these formula. I want to become a doctor one day. But still got a long way to go

I think on the ('00) US-spec RX 300 if you select "French" as the language display, you automatically get a temp display in Celsius. If correct, that would leave you a choice: translate the language or the temperature.

It's been too long since I poked around the RX 300's display. I think somewhere in the setup you can select a default language.
