Presumably the oil was not changed..........should you have engine problems within the warranty period I would bet that the dealer will no longer consider them as warrantied problems.

Possibly your sister will be willing to pay for the new motor out of her allowance......

Who builds these vehicles???? It's after all built by Toyota.....the GREATEST CAR COMPANY EVER KNOWN TO MAN.....I wouldn't have been surprised if it went on for ANOTHER 30,000 TROUBLE FREE miles without a service !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or imagine a BMW "M" engine with 30K and no service . You know how finicky those things are...

Be fair guys!

American built engines are now available that require NO service for 100K. American built BMW X5 has pre-paid scheduled maintenance (interval ??).

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to do 30,000 miles? Service has both mileage and time (which ever comes first) restrictions.

Your point is well taken, Salim, but service, at least to this one time gaspump jockey, includes regular oil and filter changes. I know of NO car company who would be willing to guarantee the mechanical integrity of their motor in the absence of adequate lubrication. Other service issues such as plugs, points (oh, right, we haven't had those for a couple of decades), etc, sure. But the implication here, tho epk did not come out and confirm it, is that there were no oil changes. Not a car I want to buy used.

You must be pissed at your sister for doing this because as good as Lexus is in engineering, you could have or did possibly cut the longevity of your car by many years.

Any engine, no matter what brand needs some maintenance. Without it, things wear down significantly and will not last as long as you expect.

This is a nightmare of a story, 30K miles without service. How could you treat this Lexus Baby this way? :-)

That's nothing more than putting 100k spark plugs in their cars. Lexus already has plugs in the LS430 that go 120k. How can we define service now a days? I'm sure American engines still need filters and oil changes. Marketing is all it is.

my 2 cents!
