Default Seat belt Tension

Hello,
After many years using the seatbelt the tension is now not able to retract the belt. Do you have to replace the whole seatbelt? any adjustments? any help would be great. Fred

I've had several seatbelts replaced due to the retraction problem. I remember reading that you can clean where the belt goes through the plastic holder, but it never worked for me. I know I've had at least 4 replacements under warranty. Good luck.

I believe there's a spring in the mechanism somewhere that makes it rewind. Assuming that's correct, the spring is the problem and it should be something that can be replaced.

Default seatbelt retraction problems

I have a similar problem with slow retraction of my front seat belts.

If anyone has a DIY process for replacing the spring or whatever is causing this please post.

I've got exactly the same problem on both the front driver and passenger seat belts. Had them both replaced once under warrantee once before, but of course, I'm out of warrantee now.

Has anyone found a solution?

So, this actually worked for you? (i.e. Just cleaning off the D ring?)

Default belt retraction tool

Here's a pic of the tool sold by Nissan for those interested.

What a scam, $0.10 part for $10.00

Haven't tried it yet but will post results once I do.

Default Seat Belt Tension

Im not sure if the modification will fix the seat belt tension problem I have. When I drive my RX on the highway with the widow open. The seatbelts not being used. Will pull loose and starting flapping in the wind. A piece of tape of the shoulder guide will not pull the belt tighter.

Now that we've found a fix for the tailgate liftarms (!!), I thought I'd readdress this annoyance in my 2000 RX.

Anyone find any aftermarket seatbelt tensioners that are easily installed?

Thanks,
Eph

Don't knock it until you tried it

The belt won't get any tighter it will however travel more freely (read as allows the tensioner to do its job more effectively) where it can't now with all the crap on the shoulderbelt anchor guide..

The reason you think the tensioner isn't working is because the belt is getting caught up on the crap in the guide.

Just lift the belt where it travels through the guide and see the stuff that is there!

I was also sceptical but for what it cost me in the part price, very impressed with the results
