The curved piece is a small plastic L-shaped (with the curved angle) PVC piece. The size of the thing literally fits in the palm of your hand. In the picture in your steps 4 and 5, it goes right above where you put the fastener, and your picture entitled pics for step #5 it goes directly underneath the black plastic piece immediately to the left of the fuse box.

You literally push it down into the top of the pipe you show in pics for steps 4 and 5 and face the top opening of the piece toward the air box, otherwise that nice cold air did flow back into the engine compartment through the original air entry path (the stock path), from behind the left headlight. Make sure to push it down sufficiently enough so there is still some air coming from behind the left headlight, otherwise the car could stall.

If I bother to get my new digital camera working I will post pictures of this setup.

Well, running 1/4 mile races at altitutde or even driving is no picnic at my high altitudes. The mod above has greatly helped to increase the volume of air into the engine, and that is why I am probably wasting more gas, but I do get a lot of power.

Recently found a pheno spacer to insulate intake manifold from heat transfered from engine. Bad news is that there is no application for RX300 yet, good news is that if there is enough interest, we can ask for one. Especially when warranty expires and it is time to clean IM for carbon deposit, anyone interested or have used this product w/ other cars?

I sent an email to that company indicating my interest after you first posted about this. I think that at my altitude it might add more than the .1 second 1/4 mile advantage. Quite worthwhile.

Lexmex, yes, cooler air means you get more O2. I am sure there are > 20 owners interested from 2nd generation ES, RX300, Camry V6, Highlander models, just need to be counted in an organized way so Outlaw Engineering can develope an application for 1MZFE platforms.

Great to hear.

I have a new design for my air intake, but have been so busy with work that I haven't even gotten around to hunting/ordering the parts I need. Idea is to get more cool air in via ramming but not so much that it will cause CELs. At high altitude it was easy to do, but not back down at sea level.
