I was wondering a few things from others on the board:

1. What kind of mileage do you get (19.5 for my 99 awd)

2. What kind of range do you get before low fuel light (250 miles normally)

3. How much does it take to fill up when you do have the low fuel light (12-13.5 gallons here).

4. Where is the rest of the capacity in the fuel tank?

IMO, this is one of the 2 biggest problems with this vehicle (turning radius being the other). I have a 17.2 gallon tank that i have NEVER put in more than 13.9 gallons (and that time is was sooo empty i had carried a can of gas in the rear).

Thanks.. John

John~The first thing that came to mind in reading your post was my fuel gauge meter on my '99 RX had to be replaced! I went in with the complaint of even when I top the gas off, it still does not show above "F" as most cars. They replaced the meter and there went the problem! Bring it up next time you bring the car in. I'm trying to remember, but I think the most I've filled the car up with was close to 15 gallons.

Now, on my '99 AWD, I would average 17.5 for city driving- taking kids to school, etc. On freeway trips, I would get 19-20. The better the fuel, the better my gas mileage and my RX (as well as a friend's) does better on Chevron gas. On my '01 AWD Silversport, I'm getting 19 in the city. WOO-HOO! With gas being $2.25+, I sure appreciate that.

My RX is a '01 with the bigger gas tank...

The longest range I've gotten was 335 miles, followed
by a fill-up of 16.2 gallons... (all highway, cruise
set between 80 to 90mph)

I've noticed the gas gauge need drop faster as it
gets closer to empty. Probaby designed this way
so people don't run out of gas... noticed the same thing
on my MB C280...

The large turning radius(bigger than my company
car, a '00 Lincoln Town Car, and my former Lincoln Navigator) took a little getting used to. I'm sure
Toyota designers had a reason for doing this, but
I haven't figured out why.... yet... You'd think they
make the radius as small as possible, given the narrow
city streets in Japan...(Toyota Harrier has the same
radius, according to a Japanese Harrier site)

Cool

I get about 335-345 miles per tank. It takes 16.5 to fill up after the fuel light comes on.
