That's the price range I've been quoted by three local
Lexus-dealer service departments.... ouch!!! I'm sure I can perform some parts of the 10k-mile service myself...
but will this affect the warranty?

Hi,
Ihave a 2000 RX and just had my 10K service done. My local Lexus dealer is in Westmont, Il, McGrath by name and all they charged me was $100.00 (rounded off). I can't imagine there would be a difference for service between the 2000 model and the 2001.

What's on the list of stuff they're going to do other than change the oil and filter?
Do you need them to check your trans fluid levels? Your washer fluid level? Have you driven so much you think they need to check your brake pads? Most of the stuff on the list is BS stuff to run up your bill at $75/hr dealer labor rate. Remember the Service Area is a Profit Center for the dealership...and you're among the ones who're supposed to provide those profits when they aren't doing warranty work.
So, have them do what you feel you need them to do. Things like oil changes can be done anywhere and you'll still be under warranty. Just keep the receipts. Many here would also say you should use the Lexus oil filter. So, buy one and bring it to your independent oil change place...or have them buy it and use it when they change oil...or buy the filter and do it yourself.

can't believe it !
My dealer (S. CA Longo Lexus) just quoted around $310 for 30k mile tune up. I think it should include oil, Trans fluid, air filter, interior air filter; spark plus and coolant change etc.
I had oil, air filter change and rotate tire on 10k mile by myself and that’s about it and it cost about 30 buck only.
