I took a long drive today on my lunch break. It was a really beautiful day - 84 degrees, sunny, perfect weather. I had all the windows down and the sunroof open. It was unbeliveable. I never thought I woud have so much fun driving an SUV. I've only had my RX for 3 days, but I am already attached to it. The next thing I'm going to do is buy new speakers for it!

Sounds great! We are supposed to get some mid to upper 80's weather here in Georgia this week. Maybe I'll get some time to cruise around. It would be great if you could keep me posted on your speaker upgrades. I am intersted to know what you go with and how it works out. I am interested in, eventually, changing the subwoofer under the passenger seat (5in.) to a higher quality on and possibly adding another one in the cargo area.

Michael...

STOP!!! Or you'll end up like me...
I got my '01 RX300 in November. As of today,
it already has 10,000 miles... yes, I said 10k miles
in less than 5 months. For comparison, my last SUV,
MB ML430 got only 11000 miles every YEAR...

The first day I picked up my RX, I programmed the
navigation system and thought I was only taking a
short "check-it-out" drive... I ended up 250 miles away
in New York City. (on a weekend) Came home the
next day with 580 miles on the odometer, only
24 hours after buying it... Every mile was FUN!!!
The miles just fly by as I drive the RX300.

I think Lexus can use me in a future commercial:
a guy in his pajamas goes into the garage at 2AM,
openes the RX's door and sits in the driver's seat...
plays with the navigation system, entering a route from
Maryland to California... falls asleep and wake up
on Malibu Beach...

God, I love my RX300! (quoting MichalRX)
"Dear Santa, you don't have to come over this year...
well unless you're bringing me cable modem/DSL
service to my house... "

LOL...sleepybobcat, you sound like me. I take drives just for the sake of driving. Although...10,000 miles!!! Wow! I have just over 6,000 on my 2000 RX that I bought in August 2000. I wish I had nav. though, oh well...still have the cool multi-display screen - that never gets old for me. I always thougt the RX looked like a concept car in production - it is so different looking. I think if Santa passed us by this year with nothing more than a car wash we would all be happy. (well...maybe the dvd t.v. headrests...lol)

This weekend I drove my RX300 nearly 500 miles!! I can't believe the enjoyment I am getting from this vehicle. I treated the interior dash with low-gloss armorall protectant. What a difference it made! It really brought out the color and texture of the faux-leather. I visited a few sound shops in my area to shop for come new speakers, and all I found was low-end crap. I really want to buy a/d/s, MB Quart, or Boston Acoustics speakers, but I can't find any dealers in my area. Guess I'll have to go to Nashville or Birmingham.

MichaelRex, great to hear that you are enjoying driving your RX, to me that is oh so important in owning any vehicle...that you love to drive it. When I go on some weekeds from college one of the main things I look forward to is driving the two hours north through Atlanta. Even if I hit some rush hour on I-75 (which is about all the time...lol) I don't sweat it, usually it is a nice day outside so I roll down the window - open the sunroof and crank up the music! I tell the traffic to "bring it on!" The RX loves to be driven!
