Default RX 350 cabin and engine filter size

I can't find this info!

Does anyone know the size for the cabin and engine air filter for a 2016 Lexus RX 350? I heard that the cabin air filter is the same size as an IS250?

I've used up my two free services so now I'm about to buy a reusable air filter and buy my own cabin air filters.

Also does anyone have any recommendations on the brand? I've tried K&N and didn't like re-oiling it. I also have an AEM air filter on another car.

Get an OEM Filter from Toyota or Lexus.

I believe the correct filter is

17801-0P051

The original cabin air filter has the charcoal coating for odor elimination. The price is not too bad. Neither is the engine air filter.

I ordered and swapped the engine and cabin filter for my father in his 2016 RX350. These are the part numbers that I got from the dealer:
Engine air filter
178010P051

Cabin air filter
871390E040

Ordered from LexusPartsNow.com, which was about half as much as the dealer wanted to sell me the parts. You do have to pay for shipping, but still cheaper than buying from the dealer.

PLEASE NOTE Non OEM filters being sold > Champion Wix etc incorrectly show they fit 2010 thru 2017 RX 350 and 450. The 2016 and 2017 need a special filter that fits a tray behind the glove box. Bought Champion CCF1816 from Amazon, and they replaced 2x because it did not fit. Call to Champions 800# confirmed their data base is wrong. Stopped at ORielly Auto parts and Wix and other brands they had on hand did not fit either. Seems no one realized cabin filter size changed for 2016 / 17

Save yourself the heartache. Buy only OEM (Dealer or Lexus Parts Now)

Default Filter replacement

I just realized that wife's 2016 RX350 is over 25,000 miles and none of air filters have been changed. I think the incabin filter should be straight forward - behind the glovebox, like our 2nd generation RX. Not sure on the engine filter. Is there a write up or a diy video? I didn't see anything when searched and I would prefer to do it myself instead of taking it to the dealer.

Also, should I stick w/OEM or aftermarket is ok?

Appreciate any help.

For me it's been hard to find a cabin air filter aftermarket that fit. Also I wanted an AEM engine air filter but they still haven't made it yet.

They say the size is 1085 or something but when I put that size in it doesn't fit, it's too small.

I ended up getting the oem cabin and engine air filter on factory lexus parts and installing it myself.

Engine is very easy. Clips keep the cover on. Just unclip and remove the old one and insert the new one.

There should be a topic on the cabin air filter. I remember it was different because of a screw piece that held the hinged door and all you had to do is pull it with force so that the glove box cover drops down so you can access the air filter.

instructions are in the owners manual. Cabin filter change is a breeze no pun intended.

Thanks for the recommendations - changed both in-cabin and engine filter this weekend.
Engine air filter used OEM - easy to replace.
In-cabin bought Fram cf10285, which doesn't fit. I'll buy OEM for in-cabin next time.

Default 2016 RX Cabin Air Filter is new

This is correct The 2016 RX350 Cabin Air filter is different than previous models.
Basically the difference is that the pleats run in the opposite direction as the previous model, so previous model air filters will not fit into the cabin air filter holder.

Below is my Amazon review which shows pictures of why the old version of the air filer will not work.
Amazon Amazon

I have not found a reasonably priced non-OEM replacement cabin air filter yet. Some other ones mentioned here look like they will work (pleats are running the correct direction), but I'm not paying $35 for a cabin air filter. Hoping to find a WIX / Fram type replacement for $10.
If someone finds one, please let me know and I will also post one, if I do find.

Default Fram

Hi Fred,

Have you tried installing the Fram cabin air filter in a 2016 - 2018 Lexus RX350 ?
I am looking for one at 2015 and earlier filters don't fit for the 2016 RX..
Looking at the image, it is showing the pleats running in the wrong direction for the new model Lexus RX350, but I think they sometimes reuse pictures, so it may not be current.

Thanks.

Default Cabin Air Filter on 2016+ RX Models is different/new

Hi,

I wouldn't worry about size. I have the 2016 RX350 OEM cabin air filter, as well as a replacement part (AC Delco) that I bought from Amazon. Per AC Delco's website, the filter fits 2012 - 2016 Lexus RX350, but that is wrong. The 2016 RX has pleats the run the opposite direction and older model filters won't fit into the air filter holder. You can see my review on Amazon, which shows the issue in the picture.

Amazon Amazon

So, the size of the filters is the same, but the direction of the pleats is what is important. I have not yet found a reasonably priced replacement yet. Still searching.

Default Fram CF12157

Hi Fred,

I just called Fram and they gave me the correct Cabin Air Filter for 2016+ RX models. It is CF12157. CF10258 won't work.

Now, my issue is that I can't find anyone that stocks this part, including Amazon and Walmart.
