Default Tire Pressure Readings After Rotating Tires

Does the vehicle know when you've rotated tires? In other words, is the reading for the driver's front tire still the driver's front tire once tires are rotated front to back? Or is there some "reset" that has to happen?

I would reset it. Going onto your steering wheel on the right side and scan to tire pressure settings, that little window on the left side of the dash, then push the dot (.) to reset. That's a pretty silly description, but I'm sure you'll figure it out

I just spent 15 minutes trying to reset the tires. I was able to do as you said to reset the tripometer, but no luck on the tire pressure reset. Maybe someone can give more specific instructions? Thank you.

Don't need to do anything after rotation, just start driving it will show new reading.

Each tire wheel well has a transmitter/initiator. The transmitter/initiator typically sends a low frequency signal to the TPMS sensor in that wheel well. The sensor then responds with the data on a higher frequency channel. The main receiver is somewhere in the car: bumpers, near driver seat, etc. Works similar to the toll tags on highways, and NFC (near field communication) readers of Apple Pay. Therefore, only the desired tire is interrogated due to proximity of the transmitter. The system usually polls tires in sequence, one at a time.

Sorry to be annoying, but this still isn't clear and I seem to be getting conflicting responses. Let's boil this down:

1. Is there a "reset" sequence, in some steering wheel control (or elsewhere), for the tire pressure sensors? If so, exactly where is it, exactly how do you do it, and when would you use it?

2. When you rotate the tires, does the vehicle automatically know that you've done this or must you use this "reset"' if it even exists in the first place?

3. If a reset exists but you don't need to do it when rotating the tires, when WOULD you actually use it?

Hey daryll40, I think I messed you up the little window is on the left side of the dash. It also shows LKA or direction, radio, TPMS etc...depends how you want it to look. That control is done on the steering wheel. Just tab it to TPMS, then press the dot (.) which is the reset. When I had a tire go low my tpms was messed up and just showed a dash (-) for each tire. Pressed the dot (.) and it reset.

Hope this is a little better info.

Resetting the TPMS is mainly for recording the tire pressures so when one or more get low a certain amount of PSI, it will warn you. You do not need to reset if you rotate tires.

i must be slow. I can find no "TMPS" setting in the little window directly in front of the driver, between the tachometer and speedometer. I CAN find "Tire Pressure (psi)". But when this is displayed, along with the 4 tire pressures, and I push the dot on the right side of the steering wheel, in the middle of the up/down, left/right arrows, nothing happens. My old Lexi had resets under the dash by the driver's knee. And when you hit that reset, you would get an affirmative "tire pressure reset" message or something like that.

NOW I found it. Under "VEHICLE SETTINGS" . Why didn't you say so 😉?

YEA!!! Some people say that you don't need to reset after a rotation, however, I don't trust it...maybe I'm just too old and sceptical .

Naah. The damn thing is too big, too cumbersome and I can never find topics listed the way I think they should be listed. Besides, what good is this forum to me if I read the manual?
