Loud ventilated seat fan
Today got in my new 2016 RX 350 and sounded like an airplane. I thought it was the A/C itself, but narrowed it down to the ventilated seats. Very loud when it was on the highest setting ( which was the auto setting).
Is this normal? I did a brief Google search and seems past year models were loud as well. It seems more loud than it should be. Maybe I will take off the auto setting.

The ventilated seats in my 3RX are pretty quiet, and the ones in my IS were not bad, but the first time I used them in my GS, I thought a commercial airliner was landing on top of my car.

The last F Sport I drove was a 2013 model. The vented seats weren't loud to me at all but I didn't have it turned up high. In fact the AC blew out so cold through the vented seats that I had to turn it off at one point. So I never really tried it on high.

New 2016 RX350 replaces 2015 RX350. Have never heard the seat ventilation fans on either one. I leave the seats and the heat/ac on auto. Might be that I'm 83 and have a split left ear drum from flying in AF aircraft.

I love the ventilated seats as well. The blower noise is somewhat loud on the high setting but cools the seats down quickly. I just use the Auto setting and that controls the blower's three speeds. Don't mind the noise at all - it actually sounds soothing to me.

I asked a dealer tech about this and had him sit in the car with me. He said the sound is normal. I told him my '13 Rxh did not sound like that. He said, yes and people complained the seat ventilators did not blow enough air so Lexus upped the RPMs and maybe gave the blades more pitch to move more air. Hence the jet engine sound. For me the bottom line is I'd rather have more air than less so the noise is now tolerable.

I took my RX and had technician limit fan speed to eliminate top fan speed. I did not like it. This is a 3 speed fan. The top speed is much faster than the first two. If noise is a bother run on manual speed and not auto. Is you get hot switch to top speed. The mod is done by the tech via computer port. So I do notrecommend the mod. My was done at Wesrside Lexus at my request. The service agent knew of the seat fan noise issue but said no fix. She checked with tech and he knew how to limit fan speed. At Lexus now getting it set back to normal. Westside is fantastic!

I actually notices something interesting today:
There are the 3 settings as per this thread, but when the setting is on Auto and you kick the AC temp to Lo, the seats sound louder and push more air than setting 3. That's the only time I would day they are louder than they were in my '14 IS

Trust me I come from 2010 RX and have an 09 IS. The older ones were quieter but you couldn't feel any air. I rather have it noisy when needed. Also to be honest the sound it makes isn't like an awful high pitch noise or something. Sounds like Dyson Airblade haha
