May the force be with you!

I didn't realize that our knuckles and elbows dont have sweat glands. But even if it did not chances are your knuckles or elbow can get contaminated with sweat oil from other parts of the body.

Default Touch-free power rear door

Mine works reliably. I find it easiest to touch the upper portion of the emblem rather than hover. After it beeps once, let go of the emblem, otherwise it will beep twice and not open the door.

I touch the touch-free emblem and it works 99% of the time. However, the wife has trouble getting it to work...her success rate is probably 85%. I'm guessing if it is indeed touch-free then it works off the body heat in your hands/fingers, and she has cold hands even in summer. So I tell her just to touch a couple fingers on the top of the emblem. That seems to work best for her.

Interesting. I do not think it is based off of body heat. Maybe the size of her fingers?

I always use my elbow and some days I'm wearing a large sweater and it still works fine.

I find it works better putting my fingers steadily on the left side. For whatever reason the right side doesn't work as well.

I think you are right and I am glad you posted this. As time goes, I too found that it seems to be in the upper left of the emblem.
