Opinions on Rear Middle Seat Comfort
I'm not sure if this is normal for a car frame SUV, but the 4RX is the first one I have owned and I just noticed that the middle seat is highly uncomfortable. It seems that they sacrificed a lot of the comfort level for the sake of the cup holders... It seems strange to me to design it this way but I guess it's mostly because imo an SUV should at the very least comfortably fit 5 people. Am I just being picky?

When I compared RX, NX, RDX, Q5 and X3 it felt like RX was in top 2 if not the most comfortable in that position. Both Q5 and X3 had the bump (RWD) and NX was way smaller.

It was unfortunately something I hadn't thought of when I was shopping for vehicles so I didn't test any of the other ones. I'll have to take a seat in some other vehicles to compare just to experience it myself but I just imagined that an SUV would be more comfortable compared to a sedan which I have sat in the middle seat of many and are definitely more comfortable than the 4RX. It just seems like there is no cushion whatsoever and it sticks out more than necessary.
Most likely just my lack of experience that I'm just a little disappointed.

I currently plan on keeping the RX until it either gives me too many problems or it's too unsafe to run. Luckily the middle seat comfort is not a deal breaker for me. Just a little disappointed in myself for not being aware of the fact prior to purchasing, must have been too excited when I was looking to buy my first brand new vehicle haha

In my experience the middle backseat of most SUVs (RX included) is a bit stiffer and feels as if it is elevated in comparison to the rest of the seats. Good thing you wont be driving in the middle back seat =)

I tested the X5 and GLE when we were buying and the RX and GLE had the most comfort seats. X5 was really bad. The middle position on the RX is better than my Venza or Camry, based on short tests. I have to test over long distances.

Definitely good that I won't be sitting in the back middle seat, likely ever. Good to know that the middle seats are normally quite uncomfortable though.
I was just planning on taking a 5-person road trip this summer and was thinking about taking the RX, but with the back middle seat... I'm not sure if anyone will want to sit there xD

You maybe on to something, but I think the issue lies with the middle seat having the storage compartment more then anything. The GX, and 15 RX, NX both have the older style cupholder arrangement and no difference.
