Default Alternative to OEM license plate screws

I've had problems in the past with my license plates being stolen. I didn't want to deal with those specialized screws which have an esoteric head in which you need a special tool to remove them. So, i found some screws with allen heads which will work. A lot of people carry screwdrivers around, but not many people carry allen wrenches around.

Even though this is a "course" thread, its still a lot finer than the OEM screws. However, they seem to work. Screws were purchased at Home Depot

My current 2009 LS has metal screws that are rusted on. The rust from the screws is starting to bleed onto my plate. I've learned from this to never use metal screws. One good option is 3M doubled sided tape, the kind they use for side moldings. I plan to have the old plate removed soon...probably will have to cut, drill or grind off the old screws. The car is old enough that this does not bother me. Ill mount a new plate with the tape. I've done this before and it works like a charm. The plate/bond can be removed with dental floss, then you gently peel the remaining tape off.

As skiracer noted, "I'm in da hood yo...", also. So, I might prefer to use these fasteners which are made from stainless steel which should definitely not corrode.
