I ordered a 2016 rx350 early Dec. and was built Dec.21. I've been told my car along with 1500 other cars are being held for government inspection. WHY.

I guess you hit the lotto then...special orders usually take 3 months before built.

My special order arrived at the Jackaonville dealer right after Christmas and transferred to my local dealer in Tampa in a few days. I already picked up on last day of 2015 without any issue. Not sure why mine wasn't held up there.

Delay in Arizona also.
Just got word from my dealer that my 2016 450h AWD will be delayed here also for an undisclosed reason. Arrived by rail. I'm in Tucson area, but buying in Phoenix area. My 450h is sitting at the Phoenix distribution center, along with other incoming 2016 RX's that just arrived, and all have to wait to be delivered. Mine is not a special order, but ordered off the dealers inventory sheets. Hopefully won't be to much of a wait, I've been waiting since N.Y. auto show last April.

Our situation is much like yours. We also delayed buying a 2015 RX after we saw what was planed for the 2016. Like you, we locked in on a car already on a dealer planned inventory sheet. I received a call this morning from our salesman saying that our car had been released and waiting for shipping. We are buying in Mobile, AL and I was told our car was one of 1500 being held and inspected in Jacksonville,FL.

We ordered our 2016 RX in early Dec. Build date of 18 Dec in Canada and it arrived Jacksonville last Friday. It's now going through the "standard" quality control inspection and we expect to take delivery from our dealer in Mobile this weekend. I say "standard" as most top tier overseas automakers have some type of QC checkpoint between the build and deliver destinations.

My dealer acknowledged the delay at Jacksonville but refuses to say why. He said many are being released now with more soon. Said it was a temporary glitch.
