Hesitation problem at various speeds (TSB info post #159)

Did you have the F sport 8 speed in the 3rd gen or the 8 speed of the F sport 3rd gen? The 3rd gen RX had an 8 speed which was terrible as well, but most SA and CAs claimed that was the intended design. Midcycle might see the 10 speed but who knows. Usually if its a severe problem, lexus will issue a tsb, but you need to be the "squeak wheel"

The old 6 speed, which I assume is still used in the NX is a tried and true transmission as is almost all the 6 speeds of most Japanese automakers. For some reason the alot of the transverse 8 and 9 speed cogs are coming out like trash. Examples are the unit in the 4th gen RX, 9 speed in the MDX from ZF of all mfgs who make their buttery smooth BMW trans.

Drove a 2017 today, the 8speed was ok. The shifting was smooth, I wasn't hard on the gas.
I don't have a problem with the transmission. But I do have a problem with exhaust vibration when the engine is at 1400rmp. Most people that test drive these rx350 don't notice Vibration b/c you have to be on the highway with the engine at Constant 1400rpm. You would not notice much vibration in the city.
And why is this $60k rx350 have more wind noise than a Toyota Highlander. Right after the rx350 test drive, I tested a XLE highlander. The drivetrain in the highlander was far superior. No noise or vibration. I do have to say the rx350 absorbed road bumps better.
Warning to all new buyer. Make sure you take your Rx350 on the highway and keep the engine at 1400rpm.

The wind noise should be dependant on the grade and option package. The higher grades have sound insulating front glass and windshield.

Your probably wondering why don't I just buy the highlander and save $20k

I have a Canadian F short 3 and it is whisper quiet during highway diving. The only noise I hear is engine noise during light acceleration.

Brand new owner of 2017 RX350 and first time owner of a Lexus, bought car for my wife. Definitely disappointed with hesitation, unfortunately didn't notice hesitation during test drives. We only have 600 miles on car, I will be talking to service advisor but I'm sure he will say nothing is wrong with car. I'm already disappointed with this purchase. I'm commenting on this post so that people will know same problem exist in 2017 models as well.

Keep in mind that the transmissions still learning your driving habits. I had the hesitation when it was new. It is good now. It's just the droning now.
I guess that is part of Lexus experience now.

This fixes all hesitation/sluggish/droning performance down low.
Fixed the exact issue on a 200T, so the others will be no different.
Just double check with seller if this model version is the one you need on your 6cyl models (should be.. but double check) -- this is the one for the 200T

Had the exact issue on my 2008 RX350 especially when you go around a corner without stopping. It would hesitate and then accelerate sometimes too fast. Was told that this was normal. New 2016 RX350 does the EXACT thing, sport mode seems to cure the current problem..

I also experienced hesitation in normal mode so ran it mostly in sport mode. But after I reached around 2K miles, the hesitation went away.
For me, it felt like the engine needed to break in. But I have also heard from Lexus service that it does indeed learn from your driving habits.
