Atomic Sliver for 16 RX?
The Atomic Sliver doesn't seen to be an option for the 16 RX, only Sliver Lining Metallic (which is much less appealing) is available according to the website. However it is clearly available for Japanese model lexus.jp.
Does anyone have any information about whether they offer Atomic Sliver on the North American RX?

Dear Mr. xxx:
Thank you for contacting Lexus Customer Satisfaction.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but we will not be selling the Atomic Silver in the United States. The closest color being offered in the United States is the Silver Lining Metallic.
If you require further assistance, please respond to this email, or contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 6:00 pm, or Saturday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Pacific Time.

You are correct, Silver Lining, Nebula Gray and new Caviar are offered but Atomic Silver is not available on the 2016 RX. It is offered on the NX. When I ordered my 2014 ES300h, Atomic Silver was only offered on the then new IS... Damned if they didn't make it available for the 2015's 5 months after my Matador Red arrived!

Does not appear to be any atomic silver on the 16 RX. Thats a bummer.
Lexus is weird with colors and where they are available.

i was hoping for that color as well since silver lining was too light and nebula grey was too dark. Although atomic silver does have a slight brown hue to it, i was hoping to get it for the rx. i had to settle with nebula grey with black int since grey int wasn't anywhere to be found in california until the very least next year. i bet they will have that color available next year. just odd all the other countries have it but not here. europe has it available although it's name differently there. it's called sonic titanium there.

Nebula grey is actually not as dark as you'd think of you haven't seen it in person...it's not like a charcoal grey.

Was told at Lexus training for the new RX that they are holding off on atomic silver until the 2017 or 2018 RX (to give customers a reason to upgrade..). Kinda silly but makes sense from a business perspective, as demand will be much higher this year for the RX

That does not make any sense at all. It would be a very small percentage of people that would ever upgrade just because of a color. I am sure there will also be other changes, upgrades and additions with the 2017 and 2018, but for them to hold back Atomic Silver and say that would be a reason to upgrade is naïve. They offered it in the beginning for the NX.

They're weird about colors. Take the 3IS, they offered Ultrasonic Blue Mica on the 2IS, and offered it on the 3IS everywhere but in the US...including canada. They offered atomic silver on the 3IS, but not on the F Sport. In 2015 both colors became available. On the LS, they started offering atomic silver in other markets in 2014, including in Canada...but not here...now atomic silver is available on the LS for 2016 here.
The GS...no atomic silver until 2015.
Strange.

Also surprised when I read the info on lexus.com/lexus.ca.
Just my guess -- it is specific to the plant which produces the RX. In Japan, atomic silver/sonic titanium is offered for RX.
Atomic Silver/Sonic Titanium is not offered in North America because the Cambridge Plant has decided not to deal with too many colours what are of the sonic series at this time. The Sonic series colours require more steps to paint/achieve. For RX in NA, the only sonic colour is the Eminent White/Sonic Quartz at the moment.

For some reason they don't think the color will do well, or economically they feel fewer colors in the US will be better.

I don't think its that at all. The IS is built in the same plant regardless of where its sent, but they delayed specific colors for the US market. Same with the LS, same with the GS. The LS, GS and IS are all built at the Tahara plant in Japan, Canadian cars are built on the same line as US cars...yet US cars didn't get specific colors and Canadian cars did.

But for RX, my understanding is the RXs destined for North America are to be built in the Canadian plant (Cambridge, ON) only where the RXs for other world regions are to be built in some plants in Japan. (correct me if it is not true).
But the real reason for the missing atomic silver is probably what you have described -- marketing reason or cost.
In any case, for anyone who knows the difference between atomic silver and silver lining metallic would be disappointed if they intend to buy a 16' RX. The RX is already priced in the similar range as GS and atomic silver was originally designed to be an expensive colour -- same as Sonic Silver/Liquid Platinum and Sonic Quartz/Eminent White. So I think RX deserves to have this colour in the selection for whose who cares.
