I would say the BMW I6 is better than the lexus V6.....even with the bmw turbo there. I am iffy about the bmw V8 from a few friends who owned it. BMW biggest fail is quirky electrical which can be frustrating to deal with as the car ages.....also I can't stand the run flats that comes with bmw

I hate run flats as well. I am glad they haven't been adopted by more automakers.

X5 looks great esp in black. Front end looks super aggressive. I just can't get over BMW reliability.

Default RX450h 2020 vs BMW X5

While I was thinking of buying RX450h 2020 Luxury, another brand came to the horizon for consideration - X5 2018-2019. Did anyone have or had X5 in the past to compare with latest RX hybrid, in terms of performance, fun and quality?
I'm located in Europe, there're a lot of X5 on the market.

IMO a sporty SUV is an oxymoron, one buys this type of vehicle for comfort & traction, not to toss it around curves pulling Gs, but to each his own and BMW stands for sportiness.
I've read reports that the X5 doesn't have enough pockets and that it's thirsty, but do no know 1st hand, had a look inside one and I think Lexus is much nicer.
You being in EU where everything to do with cars cost at least twice what we pay in northamerica ought to consider maintenance cost and this is where Lexus shines also in resale value.
I don't know about hybrids, once fuel cell hits the market, their value will drop like a brick.

IMO this is no longer true. Just check out this critical review where Grand Tour (who hates hates SUVs) ends up proving that sporty SUVs are actually not that far off in terms of lap times compared to a BMW M3. We should dispel the notion that just because a car is raised off the ground and heavier, that it cannot be sporty.

I test drove an X5 xDrive35i along with my RX450h F Sport. The X5 wins out in terms of performance and fun, however quality wise it will only exceed the RX at higher price points. As far as I'm aware the newer X5s don't have Nappa leather anymore. Dakota leather was not comparable. The interiors of both cars are gorgeous, but without Nappa leather I would tip my hat to the RX.

I would consider the kind of driving you intend to do as these are two very different vehicles. The X5 is more geared toward performance than the RX. The RX is my plush, serene commuter car. I have a Macan as my fun city car. The X5 is somewhere between that spectrum.

Another consideration is that you'd be buying a last generation X5 vs. a current generation RX. Also, X5 has a traditional 8-speed transmission which is not as smooth as a DCT. And DCT isn't as buttery smooth as the RX's PSD transmission. Avoid the regular RX350 if you don't want to roll the dice on the transmission woes.

Where did you find it? I tried to price it on the website but I couldn't find it. Looks like they offer Merino leather now which is even nicer.

So they no longer have Dakota leather, they have standard sensated (vinyl) and vernasca leather (similar to Dakota) and then merino is the upgrade, which is better than the nappa like you said. Point is though there is still a leather upgrade.
