Default Rear collission lights

Hi!

I'm been trying to figure out when the rear collision lights go on. These are the lights that are in the lower rear bumper on both sides. I'm trying to change the bulb after an accident and I can't check if the bulbs are burnt out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm all out of Google searches. Basically I want to just plug the light bulb back in and have it light up so I know it works.

Thanks!

I would turn on the headlights, be careful not to short out the bulb socket with the voltage probe (you will blow the fuse), apply a volt meter (sometimes free at Harbor Freight) to the light socket. If you have 12 volts, and the bulb doesn't light after insertion, it's a bad bulb.
Another way to check a bulb is to switch the voltmeter to ohms, and with the bulb in your hand, check for resistance across the bulb contact points. If there is infinite resistance, (no reading) the bulb is bad. If you get any kind of a reading, the bulb is good. Good luck.
I wondered when those lights came on too.

Awesome idea Ray! I have a multimeter so when my wife gets back from shopping I'm going to have her try it and I'll post the results

They look like rear fog lights to me. Turn on your fogs and see what happens. I'll turn mine on next time I'm outside and confirm...

Nope, sorry. On my 15 Fsport they are on any time any forward lights are on. DRL, fog, headlights all get the rear bumper lights lit.
