Default 2011 RX350 Audio Amplifier Location?

The sound on our 2011 RX350 quit. No NAV, Radio, etc. I suspect the amplifier. Fuses all check out. It goes to the dealer tomorrow. We purchased the RX in 2014 as CPO. Does anyone know the location of the amplifier (in the hatch)? I was going to check connections before the appointment. Fortunately, my wife purchased an extended warranty (something I would not have done given Toyota's reputation for quality). We'll see what they come up with.

Thanks,
Ray

Found the amplifier seat side of the spare. Nothing hanging. Leave it to the dealer since there is a warranty.

Although... at least you still have warranty

Amplifier is bad. It goes back today for the swap. Hopefully nothing else surfaces.

rrichard7, what do you mean by "seat side" of the spare? Behind the rear seat and in front of the spare? All sound on my 2010 RX350 just stopped yesterday. Same symptoms as I've read in the Forum, scratchy noise from front speaker at start-up, etc. Thanks

Sorry, not very clear. It is under the floor in the hatch. Remove the floor/cover to expose the spare. The amplifier is in between the spare and the back seat on the passenger side. Large metal box with cables. We purchased a bumper to bumper warranty, amplifier was covered. Our receipt showed $768.93. Our sound got poor and then none.

I hope this helps, Good Luck.

Thanks rrichard7. Replaced the amp and it all returned to normal. Since I work at an engineering company, we decided to take apart the old amp and attempted to troubleshoot it. We found no easily visible fault (burnt out area on the boards, etc.). It is a component failure and without the schematics it becomes impossible unless you want to devote endless hours.
Being new to the forum I don't know where to look for schematics... any ideas where to search. Thanks

Angry 2011 Rx350 Amplifier Repair

I recently lost all sound in my 2011 rx350, no radio, CD player or nav sound. The dealer diagnosed as amp issue. Unfortunately pioneer is out of stock for three weeks or more. Based on info from this forum I have located and removed the Amp. But I need some recommendations from members who have used a Auto Electronic shop to repair.

You can call these guys in Florida, they repair factory radios and amps. I personally have not used them, I was surfing the web and ran across them.

When it comes to audio/nav equipment, Lexus specs and purchases from Pioneer/Nak/MarkL etc. If you have the Lexus service manuals (or access to them) they will stop at the connector. For repair (with or without warranty), Lexus dealers simply swap out the units and their techs do no attempt to get into the units. As an owner, you can search for repair facility and usually the flat repair cost I have seen for first gen end up close to what you can purchase from salvage yards. LKQ is a good source I have used in the past.

This is all good info Salim. I had the factory amp go out in my 2013 GS and It rendered my infotainment system useless until the dealer warrantied out the amp and swapped it out.
