Protection from the sun mostly.
I had one on my Tacoma trunk that I gave my son, the RX has one large dash.
It should arrive tomorrow, so this weekend I will see.

Gotcha. If you dont like the looks I suggest just using 303Protectant. Will protect it very well

Thanks, I'm familiar with the 303 Protectant I used it on my Porsche cloth top.

Tee...it looks good from the pics. The pad over the hump for the instruments behind the steering wheel looks a bit uneven--is that just the camera angle? What fabric did you get? Would you choose a different fabric if you had it to do again?

I like the "RX350" embroidery...makes it look like it came from Lexus.

The fabric I chose was Poly Carpet and it's thin compared to what you would think of as carpet but nice. It's a perfect fit to the dash, every vent lines up and it fills in the small windows on each side.
They provide you with these strips of velcro on one side and sticky back on the other. I only used one strip and cut it in small pieces for key spots to hold the carpet in place.
I need to take another picture of the curve over the gauges, I have since applied two strips to hold the contour in place and fits nice.
All in all I am pleased with it, I only used about seven pieces of the cut strips in key areas, one being between the defroster vents, three for the passenger dash, two on the curve over the gauges and one on the right slope of curve dash.

To answer you question about the color choice, my dash is black, overlaying the charcoal over it adds a nice contrast to the interior. I am pleased with the color choice.
They have Cinder color that is a little darker but I was trying to lighten it up.

I installed a dash cover on 2014 RX as well as any of the vehicles that I have owned in Arizona. This will protect your dash from the sun. Buy the carpet dash cover as this will not shrink in the sun. I used to work at a dash cover manufacturer and we found over the years that any other fabric tended to shrink. As the monts pass, the sun will cause the carpet das cover to fit better than when first installed. It will conform better to the curves of the dash.
