Default O2 sensor issue - first p0057. Replaced sensor then p0161?

Hello all..

I'm having a bit of an issue. I have a 2010 RX350 and it pulled a P0057 code. I replaced O2 B2S2 with a Denso replacement and now I'm getting a P0161. Can't find anything in my searches.

Thanks
Varun.

Try a google search and it will show that this is for another O2 sensor. It is common across many Toyota-Lexus models. One suggestion was to run a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner in the gas tank, then clear the code and see if it comes back. Otherwise, you may have to replace another one.

Thanks for the reply, but the link you sent was to the sensor I replaced. I replaced bank 2 sensor 2. The one after the cat for a p0057 code and now have a p0161 after about 5 min of driving. Still showing a historic p0057 in torque and a pending p0161, but CEL and check awd system is on the dash.

Sorry if I'm being difficult but I'm trying to get my wife's car back on the road. We just a kid and my car can't carry a car seat!

Thanks again for the help.

It would suck if you got a bad "new" O 2 sensor but it does happen. I'd check the wiring and fuse to the sensor circuit first. If you didn't disconnect the battery when changing a sensor could've popped the fuse.

Found this on the ES350 forum

P0057: Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 2 Sensor 2

P0161: HO2S22 Heater Circuit Malfunction

Would appear your rear O2 sensor is going. That is independent of the C1201 code which is an engine control system malfunction.

I'd replace that o2 sensor and the codes will likely go away. The VSC and Skid lights always come on with a CEL because the systems get disabled whenever an MIL is tripped.

Either the new sensor is bad, or you need to clear the codes and check your fuses.
