i am starting to shop for an Rx(used) and was hoping someone could help me with options. the one i am most interested in is mark levinson audio. i've seen pics of Rx's where it says ML but you can't see the ML moniker on the radio.i've also seen the ML in different spots.can someone give me a definitve 'rule' (other than the ML name) where it will or won't be in the Rx? ie:if it has hybrid , it was built in japan.

I have ML on my RX and the only place the name "Mark Levinson" is printed is on the stereo/HVAC panel face, just below the volume/power ****. Otherwise I think you would have to count speakers. ML should have 15 as I recall.

ML will always be printed as Mark Levinson on the headunit if the car has it. Assuming you're looking at a 10-15 RX since you posted in the 10-15 forum, Mark Levinson will always be printed right below the volume **** if it has it. Some RX's, like our 3rd gen RX's, have multiple audio offerings. A 9 speaker setup, a 12 speaker setup (offered with the comfort package 10-12, offered with navigation package on 13+'s), and the 15 speaker ML.

I'll chalk that up to a really good find, if you ever see one. I know people on this forum have the ML package, but I've never seen one in my searches. I've seen more F Sports than anything with luxury package or ML. Just saw my first RX with luxury package last week. It may be different in your area. I'll say one thing about the ML sound system though. From what I've read here, they are just barely a step up from the 12 speaker navi, but I had ML in my GX. While it kicked butt over the stock GX sound system, upgrades were near impossible and once things started to break, replacements were equally outrageous. The guys with base radio could rip and replace with no issues.

It's not so much the case on the RX, as everything goes through the nav screen or upper display, but I'm betting conversion kits will be available for cars without ML and not for those with. I say that based on how many ML systems I see listed and passed experience.
