Mold/mildew smell from hatch area
My wife's RX has had this weird, what I'd call a moldy/mildewy smell when you open the hatch. Cleaned everything out, check spare compartment for moisture, emptied out everything in the hatch, had the car detailed, and it's still there. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this situation?

Often, a spare tire gives off what appears to be a moldy, mildew smell. If the spare tire area is never open, that might be part, or all, of what you are smelling. If you are able to leave the car overnight with the hatch up, I would do that. Prop up the carpet to let some air circ, sprinkle some baking soda under the carpet area. Prop up the access lid, and sprinkle baking soda in that area, and around the spare tire well. You might go so far as putting a small fan on a table, blowing air into the rear hatch, carpet, and access lid areas.
Hopefully, the "airing out" will take care of it.
