Default I need HELP on removing a chrome trim on tailgate

Hi guys/gals...

I want to remove the rear tailgate chrome trim (located below the "L" emblem, and above the license plate.

I've done several searches with no results.

Is there a DIY section that shows the steps to remove this trim?

TIA

You have to take off the interior trim panel to get to the nuts that hold it on .

Nope. Thinking of wrapping in vinyl.

My wife did close the garage door when tailgate was up once. Put a small dent in tailgate, but nothing too major.

You could most likely wrap the piece without removing it.

Hello: The same thing happened in my case. Wife closed the garage door, with the rear lift gate open. Smash went the chrome piece. Did you find any other instructions on how to remove the part? I have the diagram, which you said was blurry. And did you successfully exchanged the broken piece?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
