Default 3RX Brake Replacement

My brakes are running low,I need to get them replaced, is it worth getting them done at the Lexus dealership or can I order good breaks online and just get them installed on my own.

TIA

For brakes, I would either do them myself or take them to an independent shop. The dealer is quite expensive for these.

I see, could you suggest some good brakes? I've never had them done on rx so I'm hesitant over which to buy

You could take a nice break in the Atlantic City, since you're so close by.

But if you wanted to replace your brakes, you can't go wrong with OEM.
Just buy parts online and DIY. I used discounttoyotaparts.com to buy from.
This is something you learn how to do once and you'll wonder why you paid someone else to do it for you.

If it is your first time read and watch the videos on http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/12...fications.html
as the 2nd gen highlander has the same brake system. Any independent garage can install brakes and some will let you bring your own pads or will get them for you from the dealer.

From my experience, OEM pads and rotors worked out better than aftermarket, both quality and longevity.

Brakes are definitely a DIY on this car. Just make sure you compress the piston slowly. Nothing should be forced.

Compare prices (and ease of navigation) at these 2 sites for OEM parts
http://www.lexuspartsnow.com/

http://irontoadparts.com/Lexus/

You need to know if your vehicle is made in Japan or Canada. If the first digit of the VIN is J then it was made in Japan. Otherwise, Canada.
