Can you program audiobooks on iPhone 6 to come through car speakers?
I have my IPhone 6 set up so I can speak on the phone through the car speakers, and also use the voice recorder system, but when I use the apps Audible or Audiobooks, the sound comes through the phone rather than the car speakers. What am I doing wrong?

I use the charging cable thru the USB port and select the iPod option on the radio/head unit. Not that this is the right way, but it works for me. Anyone else know of another way?

I am using Overdrive application for audio books, it allows to borrow books for free from the local library (very good variety) and listen it through the BT in the car without any issues.

In your audiobook app, there has to be some setting to change the audio to be through Bluetooth or through iPhone
Similar to while you are on a phone call and can choose the audio output.

What year is your RX? If it's 2010-2012, the bluetooth audio player portion has to be paired separately from the phone.

So I tried to pair the phone as an audio device to listen to audiobooks and podcasts but it didn't seem to work. I'm wondering if that only works if it's a separate device.

Did you successfully pair the phone as an audio player? When registering an audio player through the car, start the process from the car, then while the car is in pairing mode, touch "Car Multimedia" on the phone's bluetooth screen.

I chose setup, and then bluetooth audio player, then I think it was "pair audio player" and it asked me to enter the code 0000, but there was no where to enter it on the Bluetooth screen. I forget what I did next but eventually it said the audio device was connected. But then I couldn't hear the audiobook either through the car speakers or through the phone, even though it was playing. So I just deleted it. It's okay, I can just listen through the phone.

Was Bluetooth selected as the mode source on the car stereo?
Did the car screen show that the audiobook was playing?
I've had issues on the phone before dealing with volume, so while it's playing, turn the mute switch off on your phone, turn the volume up on your phone and check the volume on your car.
Have you tried via usb connection?

You might play Audible Audiobooks on the official Audible Manager. Also, you can try to convert the original AA/AAX file to MP3 by TunesKit Audible Converter to play on any devices and stream the files through Bluetooth. Hope it helpful to you.

GF used her iphone in the IS350 on a road trip, once paired as multimedia device you have to crank the phones volume to max for some apps. The key point being there is the phone sync and media connection. Both are required for complete functionality.
On my Android there were times where the phone paired but the media didnt but that was only at the beginning. For her in her Rav4 they get out of sync and the car must be turned off to restore the connection. Somehow the Android and 350 don't have this issue. Please confirm Bluetooth is selected and on on both car and phone.
I use Power Amp on android and Audible. Both stream flawlessly but media volume needs cranked.
