Default Door Sensor - I can't be the only one ????

Hard for me to believe that Im the only human being on Planet Lexus with this problem....I've searched the forums, other forums and the internet and nothing addresses it? Can someone help?
I've read the manual cover to cover, nothing there.....gone through the personalized selections, nothing has worked.....here's the issue...the drivers door sensor to the Smart Access System is not working, won't recognize the electronic key. Passenger side works fine and hatch does too, in fact when passenger and hatch are activated the puddle light under the drivers outside mirror functions correctly. Is the sensor dead? Is there a way the dealer can reset (called the dealer and the usual bring it in and the diagnostic charge of 130 is due and we will look at it). Would hate to drop 130 just to be told its the sensor (it looks like it is). Wont lock and won't unlock. Im going to change the battery on the FOB as a last resort (car battery is brand new). One guy did answer my previous post, said "something went wrong" yikes.....I knew that. Any help appreciated......2012 RX 350

Don't limit your search just to Lexus vehicles.
Denso makes these units also for Toyota and other Japanese manufacturers.
Could be a loose connector inside the door somewhere.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes for a full reset?

Casawolves, sorry you're having a problem. Try changing out the battery in the key fob first. Hopefully it's that simple. There is an additional sensor underneath the handle too. Check and see if that works. Please keep us posted.

Are you passed the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty limit?

Sensor or door lock actuator? Same thing happened to me and it was just a bad actuator. Initially they started failing randomly until they just stopped working completely. Two RXs, a 2012 and a 2013 with driver door issue.

A similar problem is pretty common with certain years of the LS460 I believe, you might try asking over on that forum.

Default Door handle sensor

hello, I've had an RX350 for 4 months/4k miles now...and I've had similar problems...

my drivers side door handle sensor will not lock the car when lightly pressing on the grooved sensor...

I reset the locking options using the car settings menu but the problem has not gone away...

kinda shocking for a nearly brand new car!

You're still under warranty, so what has the dealer done about this problem?

I am having the same issue with my 2013 RX 350, driver side door, also. Did you repair the actuator yourself, if so how much were the parts? If you took it to a dealer, how much did they charge?

Thank you,
mlowe

I do appreciate that you searched before posting. But dont hold your breath for an answer as the post you quoted was many years ago. [3+]

Actually searching is admirable!

However, to add to the above, you can click on a user's name to view the user's profile. This is from edwin1027's profile page:

CasaWolves - We had the same problem with our 2011 RX350 passenger door, 71K miles. Lock replaced at the dealer for $571 OTD. Now the same thing is happening to the driver's door. I did some research, found three "how to" vids on YouTube, and the part on Amazon for $40. It's not easy if you're not familiar with auto body work, but you can decide for yourself after viewing the YouTube videos. Here is a link to another post in this forum where I started my research.

BTW, I was puzzled about researching this forum too. Here's how...Click "Search This Forum" at the top right of the Sticky Threads area. Type "door actuator" in the box. Click GO. All the posts with door actuator contained therein will populate. Good luck.
I'm installing my new door actuator this week. Wish me luck.
