offroad?
Hi All,
Ive just sold my trust old 80 series landcruiser and our family car Lexus GS430. Getting something in between. I was originally going for the 200 Series Landcruiser (v8 TT Diesel) but wife doesn't like..too big for her..
Ive settled on a RX450h F Sport, but id still like to venture out campsites and maybe beach...bit worried to take this any more than on a dirt road tho lol
Anyone used theirs off the blacktop?

RX350/450 does NOT equal Landcruiser. Your not going to go through logging trails with deep ruts in the 450, but we take our 350 AWD on unpaved roads no issue, some have pockets of noncompacted dirt/sand, but no real issues. The only time I used the center diff lock button is through 6 inch snow drifts in Utah, but rare. If you have 450 AWD, I think the tech in there is even better than the 350 AWD for nonstandard road conditions. Heck, we've even used our roof rack for cargo (imagine that!) we actually use this as an SUV, not limited to city streets at all.

There is no such this as settling for an RX450h F Sport.

Meaning you have a beautiful car. I have a 10RX350 and love the 13 face lift F sport models
As afpj said, you can take these off-road, but in no way can our RX's handle what a LC can. I'm in the northeast, we get decent winters here, knock on wood my RX went through it all like it was on rails. The most off road I've done has been dirt road, lots of bumps and ruts, taking it slow.
I believe only the AWD have the center locking diff button. On the 350 it is located just below the mouse. Never had a need for it.
Since you sold two vehicles, could you swing another LC just for you?

I've taken our RX450h out on the beach. Had the tires deflated to 24PSI and put it in the Snow mode.
It managed fine, especially on the packed sand. The trick is to keep moving.
However, I was worried stopping anywhere in deep sand.
RX is not designed for off-road, so do not expect any serious performance.
It sounds like a Landcruiser Diesel is a better choice for your locale.

I will still get the RX450h (or 350, not sure yet), either Sports Luxury or F Sport.
I dont think, with the amount of money these cost (In OZ a used low mileage is 60-80k (100k new).
ill be taking it anywhereoff road lol.
I think like you guys said, ill just get myself another LC later on.
