Winter Tires & Rav4 17" Wheels ??
Hello,
I'm new here. I just picked up a pre-owned 2010 RX350. Our first Lexus, and I'm very impressed so far.
I have a question about winter tire/rim set up, that I can't seem to find an answer to. I've looked this site, and others over pretty good.
I want to go to a 17" Blizzak tire for winter with a higher sidewall then the 18" OE tire, so I want a 17" rim. I've been told that the Toyota Rav4 17" steel rims, will bolt up and fit with a similar tire diameter to the OE tire.
Has anybody actually used this setup? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I think you're in the wrong board. Try posting this in the RX board (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...2010-2015-212/).

Thanks Vlad.
I had considered that clearance, and then saw a couple of posts that claimed that the 2010 RX could have used the 17" wheel, but simply chose to go bigger. Then I ran into this post, on a different forum:
"2) The winter tires - The 2010 RX350 can take 17"x61/2 Toyota steel rims. I had my dealer check it for me before I bought the car. The rims tested are Toyota (I believe from the RAV4) and the part number is 426110R020. I already bought them from Toyota for 90$ CDN each. My RX has 235/55R19 OEM tires and I will use 235/65R17 for the winter. Not only it is recommended for winter to have more rubber and less rim for better traction, but the price for the 17" tire will be probably 40% less. I did all this research for myself but I welcome everybody reading this to benefit from it (too late for Francisco - sorry I didn't read this earlier - I could have saved you some $$). "
Just trying to get some confirmation, before I get a set of 17"'s, only to find out they don't fit. I know it's an obscure question, but I was hoping someone active would have contemplated it before me and reached a conclusion. I have an almost new set of 17" Blizzak's from my wife's old car that would work if I can verify. Otherwise I sell them off for pennies on the dollar.
Thanks!

Call up Tire Rack for fit information. They have a huge database of what fits different vehicles because they want to sell you those tires and wheels!
They can also tell you what size in 17 will provide the or close to the same diameter as the original 18 or 19 tire.

From the research I've done, TireRack no longer recommends 17" wheels because some models did not fit. They got this information from their customers. So, it may be a hit or miss.

Thanks fellas!
I'm hesitating to call TireRack, because I'm trying to piece together local bits and pieces, and avoid buying anything else. I'm chronically thrifty; cheap as my wife says. I can get 4 nice salvage yard rims for $140. They're just steelies, but if you're familiar with the horrible mess that is our Northern Wisconsin winter, you know that that's all our winter season deserves.
This is a calculator I've used for years to figure out compatible tire sizes.

Not sure if you've seen it, but it's a handy little gadget.
I did check the TR web site, and as Vlad said, they make no mentions of 17" wheels on the RX.
Thanks again guys.

The Toyota RAV4 17" steel rims definitely fit with lots of caliper clearance and are the correct offset. P/n 42611-0R020-SW

Thanks RealWing!!
That's great news, and confirms the previous evidence I've gathered. It's a great, cost effective way to fight the winter slips and slops.
I appreciate the help from all you guys.

Thanks Snowy,
As I said at the start of the post, I'm new here. We just bought the 2010 RX350 for my wife last week. I've been a used Mercedes guy for the past 15 years, so this is new ground for me. I spent time on many MB forums, and I appreciate the valuable resource these types of forums provide. I was uncertain how you Lexus guys would operate; but it's clear you're good people so thanks. I spent a lot of effort doing my own repair work on the MB; hopefully I'll be doing less on the Lexus.
I think this is great information on the Rav4 wheel swap. As these RX's age, they're going to have more cost sensitive consumers like myself keeping them functional.
The Rav4 wheels and 17" tires make for a pretty inexpensive winter tire package. I'm planning on going without TPMS for the winter and living with the warning light.

Just ordered a set of rims and 17 inch snow tires for the winter. We went with the Yokohama tires. My wife is from Japan and it seems everyone trusts their home brands
