Beautiful Snowy! Yokohama makes a good tire. Happy wife, happy life
I'll have my set put together before the snow flies. Rav4 4 rims from the salvage yard, a new set of wheel skins from Amazon, and I'm all in on the wheels for 200 bucks. The best news is I can utilize the 17" snows from the old car. I'm old school, I like a high profile tire and less rim anyway, rather than the low profile popular today. I wonder if there's some correlation between tire profile and men's tie width? It seems they're constantly changing too, and like a broken clock, I'm only right as the style moves wide to narrow to meet what I have in my closet.
I hope you guys in Vermont get all the snow this year:-)

Hello,
I'm new here. I just picked up a pre-owned 2010 RX350. Our first Lexus, and I'm very impressed so far.
I have a question about winter tire/rim set up, that I can't seem to find an answer to. I've looked this site, and others over pretty good.
I want to go to a 17" Blizzak tire for winter with a higher sidewall then the 18" OE tire, so I want a 17" rim. I've been told that the Toyota Rav4 17" steel rims, will bolt up and fit with a similar tire diameter to the OE tire.
Has anybody actually used this setup? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I sort of in the opposite boat - putting 2013 Highlander allow wheels (17x7.5") on our 2008 RAV4 Limited (17x7" alloy spec.)
^^ These rims are the almost new, 17" takeoffs (with 800 Km) from a 2013 Highlander , I'm buying for the RAV4.
The owner upgraded to a 2014 Highlander with 19" wheel package, and the 17's from his 2013 won't clear the brake calipers.
So maybe the lesson learned:
- the Toyota SUV's with 18's can go down to 17's / but the later year SUV's with 19's can't go down to 17"

The 17 inch rims we got from discount tire fit but are a pretty tight fit on the rear. All is fine but they did have to move the taped on weights for more clearance.
The snow tires have been on but strangely enough there has been no snow yet. We are starting to set records for the latest snow on record now. I think the snow tires are doing a splendid job of suppressing the snow! Maybe it is all from downsizing to 17inch rims

Kez - Good deal on the 17's. Nice to know that those wheels will fit as well. I like the interchangeable parts knowledge, it saves money.
Snowy - Too funny man. I'm beginning to think the same thing up here in Northern Wisconsin. 41 degrees today. Not even wearing a coat outside. I put brand new snows on my wife's and my daily drivers this year. I'll let you guys know if I buy some stocks; it will be a sure sign to short the market. :-)

Our used RAV4.3 came with these 17x6.5" steelies, for winter / now heavily rusted & deep flakes, of corrosion - cheaper grade manufacturing steel & poor primer & paint, may be evident here plus a general lack of washing & care.
2008 RAV4 Limited v6 - 17x7" OEM 6-spoke rims / now used for winter tires.
2013 Highlander 17x7.5" OEM 7-spoke rims, only seen 3 weeks use / but wouldn't fit owners 2014 Highlander with 19" wheels - so they came up for sale, in Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist).
- now reserved for RAV4 summer tires
- perfect test fit & improves, the SUV look IMO / factory RAV4 tire sizes, used throughout
Really like the Highlander grooved spoke design / with each adjacent side, tapered to a point.
On nice rims, I like to run Truck 100 psi designed chrome valve stems, with stainless steel caps
- originally made for 1 Ton Dually...I buy them at a full tire shop.

I like your setup Beaumont! Those are nice wheels.
The Rav4 set I got from the salvage yard were in MUCH better condition than the ones in your pic. Mine were new in comparison, even up here in the rust belt.
I got 4 wheels for $140, and a set of chrome wheel skins for $48. This setup was within my budget.
I like the look of those stems. How do you get them on the TPMS sensor?

Our big local salvage yards, up here (in Canada) all think their used stock, is gold plated - so I go straight for the classified ads.
- good for you, finding a good buy on winter rims
The high pressure valve stems (100 psi max) were originally made for heavier pickup truck applications, running 10 ply tires.
Chrome valve stems with stainless steel caps, add a nice touch on aluminum or silver rims.
- however, these valve stems are not TPMS compatible & luckily our 2008 Limited never had the silly option w/added upkeep ($$)

Our 17 inch rims and Yokohama snow tires are still doing a wonderful job of preventing any snow in our area! Not sure what magic is afoot but it sure is nice not to have to shovel.
Overall we have found them to be quiet and smooth. We are also getting quite good mileage, no real difference from the summer tires and OEM rims.

AR95T & Blizzaks
Just another data point here and just a little off topic -
I just ordered from TireRack & installed 18" American Racing AR95T wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 winter tires on our 13 450h. They were delivered mounted, balanced, and with new TPMS sensors in one day! Std shipping, I guess it depends where you are.
I had to go to the Toyota dealer and pay $95 for the TPMS initialization - grrrr. I'll have a tool by Spring.
The new tires feel fine (originals are 19" Bridgestone Duelers), may be ever so slightly louder, but I'd expect that from winter tires. No snow to try them out, and it will be fine with me if I don't see any this year.
Interestingly, although each of my scheduled services supposedly included tire rotation, the tire wear at 38k is very uneven. One is down to the wear bars, one is marginal, and the other two have thousands of miles left on them. If all the service was at the same dealer I would have something to say to them, but it wasn't (moved fr VA to MA). Guess I'll have to start marking them when I go for service.

But back to main topic.
I have currently Rav4 17" Oem alloy wheels with winter tyres in 2st gen Rx, fits nicely
but offset could be bigger.
