remove a blank button from the dashboard?

I need to remove one of those blanks below rear lid or gas lid buttons. I am thinking of running a USB cable through one of those blanks because I mount my cell phone on the left side of the dash on a magnetic mount when I need to see the traffic info. Running the charging cable over or under the dash fro the charger that is under the center console seems unclean...

Sounds like a good idea. Take a small, flat blade screwdriver and pry the blank from the top or bottom and it should pop out.
