Question wheel swap FWD to AWD

Hate the cheap looking 5 spoke 18" wheels that come on AWD. Does anyone know if the 19" that come on the FWD will fit AWD? Mostly concerned about the offset.

I did some searching and couldn't find a thread about it but I'm sure it is out there.

If not what is the offset and bolt pattern I need when searching for aftermarket wheels?

Same offset, 35MM. 19" wheels is an option. My RX450h came equipped that way.
You could look into the F-Sport, which already has 19" wheels.

I bought the replica wheels here and they look great and have held up well so far. Exact same center bore, offset and bolt pattern as OEM. I got the 19x8 ISF replica wheels in Hyper Silver as I have a white RX350. Great prices as they apparently are the manufacturer you will see the same wheels elsewhere on the net for twice the price. http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/...s#.VbI7pvlVhBc
eBay is a great source for used OEM wheels.

thanks for the replies, that is what I needed to know.

I will check out the link as well if we can't get some action from the dealership.

The dealer will want about $600 - $700 per wheel. Another place is www.wheelcollision.com
They are a wheel repair place. You essentially trade your old wheels in for like new ones. In your case, changing wheels, so call them first. Their web site shows list and used prices. http://www.wheelcollision.com/store/...00H-RX450H.htm

Here is a set of F-Sport wheels on eBay for $1300. Appear to be in excellent condition

Finally, Lumarai wheels is another aftermarket company that makes wheels with the exact same specs as the factory wheels, including hub bore size. http://www.lumaraiwheels.com/

thanks Clutchless. We just bought ours on Wed night and the dealer said that 18" come on the AWD. I disagreed and we started a converstation about that the tire numbers mean. They went on about changes in ride quality and I told them it won't make enough difference since we are coming from a Q5 with 19" and the only thing that matters is if the wheel offset is the same between FWD and AWD. If it is then they should be able to swap out the wheels as part of the deal.

They were going to check and get back with us but I wanted to find out for myself. The 19" wheels and tires are a $700 upgrade package if you build one out so even if can't work the deal to get them for free we should be able to get a set for $700. At least that will be our argument.

I have a 2010 AWD and switched from 18 to 19 wheels and the ride is not much different. I think your tire choice will make more of a difference. Most like the factory Michelins or as a second choice, the Bridgestones. Most do not like the Dunlop tires.

Back when I was shopping for a new one in 2011, some dealers offered to swap wheels from different cars and some would not do that.
I got mine used in 2012.

Cibalo, the 18" wheels could be standard on AWD in your area. Around me it's split between 18"s and 19" s. You can keep an eye on the wheels and tires classified for aftermarket and OEM wheels. Clutchless brings up a great point about tires. They're pretty important. I tired to get the dealer to switch the Dunlops with Michelins but none were on the lot at the time. What tires do you have on your RX right now? Maybe it would be better to change them out instead. You'd save money too.

I understand that the type of tire can affect things as well. However she isn't concerned about the tires she doesn't like how cheap the base 5 spoke looks. If it were mine I'd drive it until it was time to replace the tires and then upgrade the wheels and tires.

The problem is the dealer is telling me
I spoke to the tech amd he said no we cant switch thatwill out because it will alter the ride and we cant put that wheel on anothercar that is not awd.

It sounds to me that they think those base 18" wheels are for AWD only and don't understand that it is the wheel that comes on every 2015 RX350 unless you upgrade to the 19" triple-split 5 spoke

this was the only one they had on their lot in the color and features we wanted except for the wheels and they said they would look into seeing if they could be changed out as part of the deal.
they are now saying they can't because they are AWD specific and I am providing them example after example of new ones on lots with the 19"

They are not going to give, swap or sell you 19 inch wheels. You either have to go to another dealer, have these guys get you a different car with what you want from another dealer, as dealers trade cars all the time. Or buy new wheels and tires yourself and sell your brand new take offs. That last option will cost over $1500 depending.

The main Lexus web page lets you search for cars in your area. Try that to see if there are any with 19 inch wheels within a reasonable distance. Cars.com is another way to search. Use the advanced search feature.

They're yanking your chain. Can't you find one at another dealer that has 19s already installed as an option?

You can definitely get the 19"s on AWD models, as we looked at some when we bought our RX. I was in the opposite situation as you, though, as I only wanted the 5 spoke 18" wheels and wanted to avoid the 19"s, which seemed to be much more common around here.

I would not have purchased an RX with the 19"s, so do what I did and keep looking until you find the right one for you. I'm so glad I got one with the wheels I wanted.

Very interesting comment from the tech. The 19" rims are available on both FWD and AWD RXs. Again it might have to do with where you live. Lexus commonly packages options according to geography and probably popularity too. It might take looking around some more to find one with the 19" rims. But make sure you drive it before signing on the dotted line. And lots of members here would confirm tire brand does make a difference. Good luck.

I have all wheel, my winters are 19" and summers are 18" (from my 2004). Hard to get money from selling wheels and tires. I spent about 1,200 on Michelin tires and sold three for 200 after a year of use and lot's of tread.

Best would be an upgrade from your dealer.
