Default Phone connection in wife's RX acting funky

We have the non-nav system in our 2014 RX350, and lately the phone connection is doing crazy things, like looking as if we are making a phone call when we're not, knocking the Waze audio off and coming up on the display when we turn the phone off from just checking something online. Is there some sort of reset or something that we could try that might fix this issue?

Did you do anything or did it just resolve itself?

Kyle76,have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting your phone? It's something the technology specialist at your dealer can do for you. They might also know what might be causing the problems. Good luck.

We're not scheduled for a service for a few months, and the dealer is about an hour away. We'll definitely have it checked out. I thought someone here might have a quick fix.

You can try giving them a call instead. Or do a search here. I don't recall a particular thread but there might be one in this forum or another.

OP, I agree with Anita. Try "unpairing" your phone from the RX, then pair it (Lexus uses the term "register it" in the manuals) once again. IMHO some phones tend to have more problems than others. Info how to do it yourself is around p578 of your manual (or at least that is in the general vicinity of the various steps required).

Not sure what model phone you have, but you may want to ensure it's firmware is current. There were past issues e.g. with now old levels of iOS and certain models of iPhones that gained improved bluetooth connectivity with updates that were introduced a few years back. It truly was like magic how it made my own phone situation go from "sometimes fails for no reason" to "solid as a rock" in my RX400h with no change by Lexus along the way.

Another thing is to see if there is something causing interference with your phone. Folks have reported all sort of odd issues with say guys that keep the phone in the same pocket with their keys; guys again that keep the phone in their pocket when driving like me, but found it is next to the seatbelt buckle when I'm sitting in the driver's seat, causing significant loss of both cellular bars and sometimes bluetooth connectivity; ladies that keep their phone it in a purse with other metal "things" near it; or if dropped into the glove or console box where there could be all sort of odds-and-ends touching the phone or causing the internal bluetooth antenna connection to be severely degraded (the antenna is in the infotainment head unit, IIRC, up by the display). If I were you, I wouldn't put anything on top of the dash over the Nav display either if you have something there, just in case (e.g. no dancing hula girls ) If the phone battery is low, that could be another consideration for dropping and sporadic operation.

Good luck. Give your Technology Specialist a call at the dealership if none of that changes what's going on.
