Default 2010 RX 350 AFS vs. 2014 RX 350 AFS

Would anyone happen to know if the AFS function in these 2 different years function differently? I've seen some used 2014 headlights with AFS, and wanted to know if I connected the wiring from my 2010, to these 2014 headlights, if my computer would recognize the connection and work fine? Or if I would get the AFS error message immediately after the 2014 lights are connected. I know it is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone on this forum can chime in.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I thought they stopped offering AFS on the RX prior to the 2013 model year. I know my 13 doesn't have it (just auto leveling).

JDR, you're right. AFS was discontinued with the introduction of the spindle grill on the '13 RX. And it's not possible to switch the headlights from a '10 with ones from a '14 without changing the bumper too.

Thanks Anita. Do we know that for sure? I know in other threads 2 people successfully completed the conversion with the bumper swap, but haven't heard of anyone actually attempting the install with the 10 bumper. Is it shape of the light that isn't compatible?

Thanks everyone.

From what I remember reading;

The headlight assembly is a different size 10-12 vs 13+

I guess you're ready for 2013+ bumper swap?, I thought of doing bumper swap last year but didn't find someone successfully disabled AFS system ( AFS Malfunction will keep flashing,)plus the total conversion $$$. Honestly I dont feel my AFS very useful anymore since I have both hid for low beams and fogs, plus not worth $$$ if it goes bad.

vince22: I'm not willing to do the whole front end conversion. I was more interested in just doing the headlight swap. The two individuals that did the conversion never really attempted to do just the headlight swap, so at this point any attempt to do so would be a hit or a miss.

If I am able to pull it off, I will be sure to post pics and instructions (should there be anyone else interested).

From my research, you would definitely need the front bumper to pull off the headlight conversion. The 2013+ headlights are sharper at the grill section.

I want to do the 2013+ F sport swap as well but I have AFS and headlight washers. Just waiting for someone to post a detailed DIY on the conversion (parts needed, AFS issues resolved, etc) so I can jump the gun.

Can't you disable AFS through the menu buttons on the steering wheel? Or would the AFS error still pop up?

Pulling fuse for AFS or removing/unplugging AFS module next to pedals under dash with disable it and not have the error code on dash. I have helped my brother wire up headlights conversion successfully.

We made auto leveling head lamp motors work as well. Auto leveling is unfortunately part of the AFS module, so unplugging the AFS module disabled it. So it's either lose AFS with Auto leveling or have auto leveling with AFS error light on. Still looking into maybe swapping out AFS module with only Auto Leveling module or something else may work.

Can anyone describe where the AFS module is under the dash. I intend to disconnect it in a bid to solve the AFS error after modification of my bumper from 2010 to 2013+
