ES 300H Joins our RX family
The RX has a new companion in the garage now. We upgraded our Prius yesterday for a 2015 ES Hybrid. We were looking at the CT and decided that we didn't want a car that we had to wear. You don't get in a CT, you put it on. Probably a great college kid's car. I think we are just too old for that model (and perhaps too wide in the middle...). Anyway, we loved the ES and the mileage is nearly as good as the CT, but with the typical Lexus refinements. We have enjoyed both of our Priuses and believe in the technology, but they don't have a great ride and they are somewhat noisy. The ES seems to take the best things we liked about the Prius (like great gas mileage) and combined it with the best things we like about our RX. Now lets see if we can hit that 40 mpg mark.
Knowing pictures are "mandatory," here is my first
We almost got the white with parchment interior, but couldn't resist the Atomic Silver - which came with the black interior.

Perfect combination you have there. The ES in Atomic Silver is a looker. Congrats!

We had a CT for 2 years but it was the F Sport Special Edition and even lower than a normal CT.. Crawling into those seats actually caused my wife to develop hip pain and rough ride almost called for a chiropractor. The prescription was replacement with an HS250h. The higher seats and smoother ride cured her. Same Camry hybrid drivetrain as your ES. Nice car you bought. We did average 33-36 MPG. Worse now in the winter, around 31.

Thanks everyone. It is definitely an adjustment for us. We have had a good run with the Priuses and would only sing them praises, but the RX really spoiled us and we pined for features such as the blind spot monitoring and the quiet ride.
Oh, and those aren't tennis ***** - they are actually SPQ-39 Mark 4 Mod 2 spacial alignment hangers. OK, they're tennis *****... They are really just a reminder for a spouse with poor depth perception and a bad experience with a former occupant of the garage. It is a simple but effective solution to tell us when we are deep enough to close the door and still leave passage across the front. They also help with left/right alignment. Interesting note: I didn't have to adjust the ball for the ES. It fit just fine. I really should come clean on the photo though - the ES is at least six inches deeper in the garage than the RX. It is a longer vehicle. The angle of the photo is a bit of an optical illusion.
