Default How do you get maximum heat from a 2015 RX?

Ok it is 5 above right now, but it seems like it takes forever to get the interior to warm up. I can't seem to get the dash vents to blow strong hot air. I thought my 2012 was slow to warm up, but the 2015 takes even longer! Thank God for heated seats!

See the thread "2013 RX350: Automatic running of A/C in cold weather?" and try turning off the A/C and blower away from windshield.

Thanks, I did try this. I had the a/c off, the fan split between floor and dash and recirculate on. I think next I will try dash only. I wonder if it would help to shut the rear passenger vent off?

Don't bother worrying about A/C, the manual of 2015 RX350 say it doesn't run at 32 degrees or colder.
When outside temperature approaches 32°F (0°C)
• The air conditioning system may not operate even when “A/C” is selected.
Where is the needle of your engine temp gauge? Mid range? With the recent sub-zero temperatures, it takes our RXh a very long time to reach mid point on temp gauge. Once there, I turn AUTO off, set temp to 78, set vents to floor and dash, get interior warmed up and gradually lower temp setting. I don't wear a coat when driving so I like it warm. Passenger usually wears light jacket and likes it not as warm. When passenger gets too warm, they close their vents. I try to keep dual temps within a few degrees of each other to keep pumping out the heat. As my feet get hot, I switch to dash vents only.

I don't worry about fresh/recirculate switch, as I let car handle that as it sees fit. I also use a third party remote start, if parked outdoors, to warm up car before I get in. At the end of day or end of trip, and I get ready to turn car off, I set system back to AUTO, DUAL off, and temp setting back at 78. This way engine warms up, then car starts fans on low and speeds them up as more engine heat becomes available.

If your engine temp gauge needle isn't going up, something maybe wrong.

Here's my helpful hint on how to get more heat

Oh wait a minute that's not a Lexus... but the method still works.

Thanks for the visual, but you neglected to explain the operating controls.

That's not an option in the 450h, David

I use remote start too when it's that cold. The commute is only 15 minutes long. Frozen toes and fingers are not fun Try redirecting the vents and turn off the rear one. And hope for warmer weather.

If you can't start your car and warm it up for a couple mins before departing, what I do is "sacrifice" some initial heat to speed up the engine warm up. In other words, keep the HVAC off for the first few minutes of driving and I find the engine warms up quicker. Then when at warmer operating temp, I turn on the HVAC.

Of course, if you have several passengers in your RX, it will fog up quickly inside while your HVAC is off.

Unless there are rear passengers, I always keep the rear vent off.

Is that a Ford Pinto with the exploding rear gas tank?

I agree with you, my 2001 & 2005 heated up much quicker for some reason

I don't find that it takes that long for the RX to heat up.. I find that my past and current Japanese cars from Lexus, Infiniti and Acura heat up much faster than the two MB's we had. My middle sons 11 Accord actually heats up pretty fast too. My wifes past two ML350's took forever to heat up..

The 8 quarts of oil MB takes is not helping.
