Default USB connection

I have a Android LG 39 C cell phone which will not work in my 2011 RX 350. Anyone know why not?
Also, my IPAD 2 will not work.

What are you trying to do that makes you think it doesn't work.

Music will not play through radio when plugged into USB port and radio selected to USB. Error message appears on display.

Load a couple of songs on a USB thumb drive and see if they'll play.

So you plug your phone or iPad into the USB port (I didn't even know you could do that) and they don't play? My thumb drive plugged into the USB port plays just fine.

Wouldn't a phone (for playing music purposes) or iPad be an auxiliary item? And I don't KNOW that--just thinking aloud.

There is a list of compatible devices listed in the Audio/Video System section of the Navigation System Owner's Manual. Check out page 295 of the manual here. It only lists various iPod models including the Nano. VAIS might carry something to plug the iPad into. They might also have a device for your phone. Bluetooth is an option for listening to music from your phone. Lexus has a website here that outlines what you can and cannot do with your phone in the RX. Enter the year and model of your RX and then phone model and carrier. It'll generate a list. Another option is to contact the Technology Specialist at the Lexus dealer. He/she should be able to help you.

Anita, aren't you just the most helpful person ever! Thank you! (I'm going to check the list even though I'm not having problems.)

An Android phone will not work for music when plugged into USB. Only apple products will. Your iPad should work. Are you using a factory Apple cable? They can be finicky sometimes.
