2013 RX350: Automatic running of A/C in cold weather?

Jim,
I'm not a big fan of full Auto. Now, I do like climate control. In fact, I wouldn't buy a car without one. However, only for the single zone temp settings. And that's what I appreciate in my STi - we don't fight over settings. It hasn't changed the recirc on me yet and hasn't tuned the AC on. Of course, having dedicated buttons for either of those is refreshing.
I like having air directed to feet and hands. And at a certain speed (2/5). That's my own preference and it makes me feel comfortable. I played with full Auto settings a few times since I got my first Lexus, but it never really took.
It might be related to my personality. I do like DSLR cameras and manual cars after all.
P.S.
Lexus does make a great climate control system. I always appreciated the fact that it doesn't burn its passengers with hot air or heated seats. It is blended just perfectly.

LOL, even in full Auto it's not likely to cut on unless you need the defroster. Then it will by default to remove the humidity (frost).

Yesterday morning, I noticed outside temperature was displayed on the main gauge as 56 degrees. Internal climate control was set to 71 degrees - auto mode, dual, both sides set to 71 degrees.
After driving about 22 miles in 45 minutes which included a quick stop to drop off a book at the library, I reached a post office. When I came out, I noticed some water hripped below the car as if the A/C had been running on a hot day.
I can't figure out why water would have dripped after running the heater. I had not used the windshield wiper spray. The car has been inside a garage the whole night - so it was not outside condensation. Is the A/C running even though I have specified a hotter temperature than outside atmosphere? I mean for some reason, is the inlet air being cooled first and then heated? In which case, I better get it fixed while still in warranty period.
