Default XM NavTraffic question

2013 RX -XM navtraffic works only in nav mode with a destination set, not when in just the map mode. Other cars I have and google maps on smart phones work in either mode. Is this how the system is designed or is there a setting issue?

Will also show traffic on major highways in regular map mode within a 2 mile range. Green, red, and yellow lines on map indicate flow of traffic.

If you're subscribed to it, you should seen green, amber, or red on the major hwys but not local routes that sometimes show on your phone apps. It can not offer a re-route unless you have a destination set as without that info it has no idea where to re-route you. Does that help?

That's just it, in map mode it does not show the colored lines at any zoom setting on any major roads. Works fine in actual navigation mode.

may be a silly question, but are you a paid subscriber? Full XM or just traffic?

Yes, If I weren't paid it wouldn't work in nav mode, would it

I haven't seen any way to disable the traffic portion of the subscription in the vehicle so my thought is that it's an XM issue.

Before getting their customer service people on the line (which I understand can be a not so pleasant experience), try refreshing the signal
