greeknasty, have you taken a look at this thread? Call the dealer and have them check it out. Could be caused by overfilling the gas tank according the thread I linked. Good luck.

You can try removing the gas cap and replacing it. But it may take driving a few minutes for the light to go off. The important thing is you're under warranty. The dealer should take care of it.

This code indicates catalytic converter inefficiency, meaning it's operating at less than 99% efficiency or something is making it operate inefficiently. Take it to the dealer and have them deal with it. It's under warranty, no reason for you to worry.

They can but they won't, knowing if there is a real problem the code would just come back.

By the way, the last time it happened to me, I fixed it by cleaning the gas filler cap seal with some light oil when I noticed there was some dirt on it. Just some oil on paper towel and wiped the seal.

hopefully it was somethin stupid and not a issue in the long run.
thanks for your replies

greeknasty, maybe it was a fluke and not a sign of a serious problem. At least it's been taken care of for now. Thanks for keeping us updated.

ok so the code came back....figures!
heres what gets me..the code is a permanent DTC. if you dont know thats the new stuff 09 cars and later have that once the code pops up it doesnt go away regardless of clearing with tool and the only way for it to go away is fix the problem and the computer sees its fixed or do the universal trip drive pattern.
i checked the voltage from the o2 sensors and all look normal..also there were cat temps showin 500+ and then another number was 200-300 below not sure what those were.

can anyone enlighten me on this?

According to my elm327 my cats run at about 1200 F after warmup. What's you steady state voltage on your O2's? Iirc I'm at about 0.8v at cruise.
