Default 2014 RX 350 - 8700 miles - Rear Main Seal Leak

2014 RX 350 - 8700 miles - Rear Main Seal Leak

Very disappointed that my new RX with only 8700 miles and has never even had an oil change now has a rear main seal leak. The dealership says that the gasket was defective and that there is no other visible damage. The dealership has filed a case with Lexus corporate.

Granted that it will soon be fixed at no cost to me, it's still very disappointing that a brand I hold so high for quality has let me down in such a big way.

The odd defect appears in every brand out there. Easy fix, especially where the car is essentially new.
Don't let it ruin your day. Get a loaner & drive it like you rented it !!
Quality with our '10 has been exceptional, service with the local dealer exceptional as well.
Your experience with your dealer will make/break your opinion of the brand.

All you have to do is read about all the recalls.

Nobody is immune from quality issues these days.

As they say... s%it happens.

As long as they will put you in a loaner car for the duration of the repair period and everything else at no cost to you, then it should be fine. I know....a hassle and PITA but they will step up I'm sure. All the best and hope you get to enjoy the RX soon enough.

Agree with all the posts. Don't sweat it. Remember, even the best engineers and quality inspections cannot guarantee 100% perfection. Get the gasket replaced, and enjoy your ride.

That is disappointing. It seems the same thing happened to another member with a GX: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...-1k-miles.html

Its an easy problem to show to a dealer for resolution. There are far more challenging issues that an owner has to "replicate" inorder for a dealer to consider repairs. this is not one of them
