Default New RX350 owner, need help to put spare tire back in place!

Hello everyone!

I just got my new 2015 Rx350 F sport this morning.
I'm so excited and so do my friends, we took the spare tire out and find it hard to tighten the spare tire in place!

Because the screw that goes in the center of spare tire can't go further after a few turns and the plastic cap on top of the screw will slide alone if I turn it harder.

Now I just tighten it as far as I can. And it seems not enough(or I just feel it is not perfect as the original)

So I wonder is there any trick to tighten it back? Is this very important in safety aspect? Can I go to the dealer and let them fix it/ will they fix it for free?

Any suggestion helps!
Now I'm really regretting that I took the tire out....
Thank you!

Thank you!
I just check again. I think I might enlarged hole on the plastic cap so it can barely hold/twist the screw...

Default Spare tire

Did you try turning the tire over. You might have put it in backwards .

Just wait for your first inspection/oil change and ask them. Saves you the trip and time.

Can you post a picture of your spare install? Maybe someone here can see the error.
There's a picture of the spare installed in the owner's manual. Look up "Tire" in the index at the back of the book.
Also, I'm thinking maybe the hold-down nut might be cross-threaded.
This reminds me of the story of the man who found a device on the beach that would cure all diseases and bring peace on the planet. What did he do? He took it apart.
Congratulations on your new, exciting car.

Tire may be upside - down when stored or you may have cross threaded the stud.
Try a little grease on it.
