good video on how to adjust mirrors (like someone else already mentioned) so you eliminate the blind spot. works great!! goto episode 17.

I did not get BSM on my RX. As much as I like having it on loaners, I could see it quickly becoming a bad habit to rely on. One may forget that BSM does not exist on all of vehicles. If it negatively affects driving instincts, then it could become a liability, instead of a safety feature.

I agree. Learn how to adjust your mirror per ASME's recommendation and you will be much safer (of course the BSM will be an added safety feature).

Agreed. Head turning before changing lane is the most reliable BSM.

Does the blind spot monitoring sound an alarm every time someone passes you, for example, on the freeway? Seems like that would be aggravating.

No, it does not. When someone is in your blind spot, a small warning light illuminates in the outside mirror. If you turn on your signal to change lanes while the monitor senses someone in your blind spot, the light will flash, but there are no audible alarms.

Oh, I like that. I'm thinking about trading my 2013 for a 2015. I'm not real fond of my present color, and the dealer has one I like much better. It has all of my present equipment plus the blind spot monitor.

Every other second? That would make me dizzy.

Another one I hear mentioned quite a bit, even here at CL, is the desire for things such as an HDMI connection so one can hookup a cellphone or other video device and display videos/movies right to the NAV display.

No, No, No...

I swear every time I hear crazy things such as this, IMO, I want to go out and rescue an older vehicle with manual choke, manual column shifter or bizarre manual shift patterns, manifold vacuum gauges, and the like. They also have the added advantage that I do not need to worry about them being stolen since the idiot thieves cannot figure out how to start one let alone drive it even if I handed them the key.

What I want access to are all the other VEHICLE related information which is being read by the onboard computer and available via an OBDII scan tool to be available for display. In short, I want a version of Torque Pro accessible and configurable to my desires built into the NAV system. Not nanny devices to correct bad driving habits.

It's okay in the back for the back seat passengers.

I also do not like any distractions but kids need something to do specially on long drives.

At night, while changing lanes in a multi lane unlit road, I always have a nagging doubt even after checking all mirrors whether the vehicle in the side mirror is one lane next to me or two. With bsm, I get added confirmation of my decision. Or at least I believe it can differentiate between the two lanes next to me. I use bsm as a supplement to the manual check and not as a substitute. So no danger of forgetting the manual mirror method when switching to a car without it.

Bsm is the best and at night it is priceless. Wish I had it on my ISC.
