Payments are high if you do not plan on buying it at the end of the lease.
They are saying that price of the car will be $26,000 3 years from today with 36K miles. But if you plan on buying at the end you will be left smaller amount to finance.
But if you plan on returning at the end ask for higher RV in order to lower monthly payments.

For example in SoCal with MSRP around $50K / selling price $45K / $1,500 out of pocket lease payment will be close to $435 before any taxes.

I felt like it was pretty high as well. After plugging in the numbers in a lease calculator with MA state tax of 6.25%, I got a monthly of around $448 including tax. He mentioned something about an excise tax that isn't factored into these calculations but I didn't think excise would account for that much of a difference. I have a feeling he's inflating the monthly because they weren't too happy with the low sale price.

From an Atlanta dealer:

MSRP - $51,389
Price before dealer fee - $45,550

-----------

For the same vehicle I had two other dealers offer about $4600 off before dealer fee. Fine if you're into no haggling, but better deals can be had without much effort.

The local dealer would only drop about 6% and insulted me right off the bat so I walked out. The sales manager at Hilton Head Lexus is about the most unprofessional person in car sales I have ever met. You never approach a customer with two pieces of paper, on which is written "bad business" and "good business." Bear in mind my background is accounting, finance, and financial management and analysis. When I told him it is inappropriate to do that with customers, his response was to attack my age and indicate I am too young and didn't know what I was talking about relative to his 30+ years in the car industry. Needless to say, I will never consider Hilton Head Lexus for any future purchase, even if I happened to be willing to pay a premium relative to other dealers. He was worse than the sales manager at an Infiniti dealer in Miami I dealt with last year that started cussing because I wanted another $500 on trade-in value. The car industry never ceases to amaze me with how low they will stoop, even among luxury brands. I make it a habit with my own car purchases to never do deals in person, but I tried today because the car is for my mom. Without fail, my dislike for the car industry is strengthened each time I communicate with them in person.

I purchased a 2015 RX 350 May 22nd with an MSRP of 47070 for a sales price of 41539. It has the following options:

WHEELS: 19" TRIPLE-SPLIT 5-SPOKE ALLOY
HEATED & VENTILATED FRONT SEATS
INTUITIVE PARKING ASSIST
PREMIUM PACKAGE W/BLIND SPOT MONITOR SYSTEM
TOWING PREP PACKAGE
WOOD & LEATHER-TRIMMED STEERING WHEEL & SHIFT ****

I was originally looking for a 2013 with BSM, but they didn't have one with BSM or in the color I wanted. I got a text from my sales person while I was at the Cadillac dealership to come look at a 2014. After striking out on the SRX and not liking the 2014 RX she showed me, I was ready to give up. I asked if they had a certain employer discount and she said yes, but it wouldn't get me close to the price I was looking for. Low and behold she came back with a deal that was close .

Not really, IMHO - a good deal (purchase) is something over eight and a half (.085) percent off of MSRP for this car (I did a little better than that). This is about $2,500 away from a great deal.

Bought my 2015 RX 350 AWD, bells and whistles (I don't have the remote engine start but keyless entry and keyless start, no tow package, no Mark Levinson audio, and special racks on top-- but almost everything else you can think of) for $50,000 out the door. The invoice price of the "vehicle" was $47,189.79 -- although because my husband is active duty military we got the $750 rebate which I am sure is what the dealership used to throw in the all weather floor mats, cargo mats, and two large Lexus umbrellas lol. Then when we fixed the registration and taxes for the correct states, we ended getting back another $650. (And they also took my 2011 Toyota Rav4 Limited for $16,000 instead of the $15000 they appraised it for... that I only bought for $30,000 out the door). So I'm only making payments for $34k-- 3 years 0% interest.

We went price searching at 3 different Lexus dealerships-- they all wanted to pretty badly empty out their inventory and they were offering the same prices for the same model cars. Plus I have a mother who is ruthless when it comes to bargaining-- I'm pretty sure the lady in finance was not happy haha.

I disagree. I verified with Lexus here in Pittsburgh and they couldn't come close to that. The lowest the GM would go for a Lexus 350 on a repeat customer is Invoice.

Lexus of Wilmington, the owner, Mr. Koon, makes his money on the $389 admin fee they charge per vehicle, or so I was told. They want volume.

Disagree all you want - you're wrong. I will be happy to fax or email my sales contract to you. Give me an email address/fax # on a private message here, and I'll send it along. This was not a one off deal; I had two other dealers willing to match and only one dealer that would not.
Mr. Koon is partly right (honest?). As you know, dealers receive rebates and incentives from Lexus (in this case) that bring the dealer price down below invoice price. The greater the dealer volume, the more they are rebated from Lexus. Most dealers also hope you will utilize their service department for both free (to you) and regilar service and repairs.
Take them my contract and then that dealer will probably come up with another excuse to maintain an inflated price......"it's those crazy L.A. Dealers, we can't do that here". BS! I don't fault dealers from attempting to get the highest price for the cars they sell, that's their job. Just realize they are acting in their best interest and take what they tell you with the proverbial grain of salt.

Am I missing something. Using your 8.5% mark and the MSRP for the car in question gets me to 46,156.26 which means he paid slightly more than what you equated as a good deal. There has been some mention on this forum of getting upwards of 11.5% as well but i have not seen these types of deals in my local area (Norfolk VA). If he got the additional 2500 off from 46325 that would work out to 43825 or 13.1% off MSRP.
