Default Experiences returning leased RX350 with aftermarket trailer hitch

Hi everyone, I have a leased 2014 RX350 and have been reading some of the earlier posts here on the best options for installing aftermarket trailer hitches, with the Curt (#13143) seeming to the be the most highly recommended.

Since I'd need to cut the under-bumper fascia in order to properly install it, I'm just curious whether anyone has had issues with the dealer at the end of the lease period, and what the potential damage would be if they have an issue with the modification. Should I take the risk?

Would love to add a bike rack but the cost of having it factory installed just didn't seem worth it...
Thanks

You won't have any problems with it at all. Leave the hitch on it and turn it in. I'm adding one to my parents RX350 F Sport that I leased for them two weeks ago. Already asked in advance, and no issues as long as it isn't a hack job, which it won't be if you do it right. I'll be personally installing it in the garage, so its not like I'm paying anyone to do it either. The issue could be if you remove the hitch and leave the gaping hole by not also replacing the rear trim after the hitch is removed. For $176.00 on E-Trailer (minus the 5% coupon and free shipping) for the Curt hitch, I'm writing it off as money well spent for the use of the hitch.

Read your paperwork, then contact your dealer and get permission before you make any alterations to their vehicle.

I would assume Lexus would not want anyone cutting their vehicle and if you want a tow hitch installed, then you should pay them to install it. And only with Lexus parts.

Does the vehicle have the tow prep package installed? That's just one question of many that come to mind.

I'd say no, not worth the risk and you would be using their vehicle for a purpose not intended within your lease contract and thus voiding the contract.
