Windshield defroster - inadequate?
2013 RX450H.
Experience notes as of today: Had a nice frozen snow today that I drove in. Car is garaged.
- First off the windshield fluid would not squirt when I tried many times (pulling lever back) on my way to work (~20 min) but later on in day (after parked a few hours in another garage) it did squirt but not as high up the windshield as I expected. The rear however did squirt but took several tries. (This is the first time I used them as the car is few months old.)
- Also noticed that the front defroster seems inadequate for the windshield. The glass was clean of snow/ice (in garage) but as I drove some snow/ice built up. Lots of heat of some time (temp set ~76) but still the wipers didn't remove everything close to top 1/3 or so (luckily the fluid squirted by then). I am just surprised that that the windshield was not kept warm enough to keep the snow from forming ice.
Maybe it was just today's circumstances...... thoughts?
Thx

No, I don't play soccer!
I was in the same storm. Real fun, huh Did you check your windshield washer fluid to make sure it's full? I emptied mine a few weeks ago to switch to a fluid that can withstand the colder weather. You might want to change over to prevent freezing in the lines. There was some snow and ice on the windshield in the morning. I used the defroster and the windshield was mostly clear in a minute or two with a few swipes. I'd suggest trying a heavier winter blade. I don't do it myself but will reconsider if we keep getting all these storms.

Everything is new so I only peeked under the hood once to see the engine (though it is covered).
I figure there is fluid but was more disappointed in the defroster. Figure they designed a system to handle the size and tilt of it... I was just wondering how other felt.
(Maybe I am just spoiled from years of a 4Runner which I do now miss in the snow.)
I go in for a 5k check soon and will ask.
thx
