30K dealer service
I just had the 30K service for my 2010 RX350 performed by a major Lexus dealer in south central PA. On reviewing the $532 bill, I inquired if any codes were found related to my drivability complaints. The service rep replied that everything seemed normal when they test drove the car and they don't check for stored computer codes on this service. I was astounded! Is this really normal 30K service procedure? Should I find another dealership for service?

I have yet to come across a dealership for any car i've owned that will proactively investigate any stored codes.
Only if a CEL is blaring in their face, they will mention anything and grab a scan tool.
I think what you experienced is a normal 30k service procedure, they are just going by a factory service checklist.
Unless you specified for the service dept to scan prior to service, they will typically not volunteer.
If stored codes are of a concern, you may want to invest in one of the Toyota Techstream cables floating around Amazon and Ebay if your local dealership will not scan for you.

My RX will be hitting the 30K soon and I really am interested in exactly what the dealer does for the $532 bill - Looking at the 30K Maint. schedule, there are a lot of "inspects" but the rest of the tasks seem to be similar to the 20K Maint. I can see the cabin filter, engine air filter, key fob batteries replacement, but not able to justify the > $500 bill.
Can you post the invoice? Much appreciated.

You could check your local Toyota dealership. I had a 2002 RX that needed its 90K mile service. I called Lexus and they wanted $930. This was the service where they replace the timing belt. I thought the price was high, so I called the local Toyota dealership. They told me the cost would be $380.
I was doubtful, so I read everything off the Lexus maintenance sheet and asked if their 90K service included all this. They said yes. I had them do the service and the bill was $380 plus tax.
When I saw your post, for fun I looked at the website for my local toyota dealership. They have a special going for the 30K service for $159.00
We know you are going to pay more at Lexus, becuase of the loaner car and some other nice touches, but when the prices starts to get to 2x, or 2.5x, many people will look for alternatives. The Toyota dealerships seem to be a good blend of price vs. reputable service dept trade-offs.

Lexus Champion
Please, keep in mind, dealer-recommended XXX miles service is not the same thing as factory-recommended. They can, an they WILL, tack on extra items to get more cash out of their customers.

No, I don't play soccer!
Or remove unnecessary items. The dealer should provide an estimate before any service is performed. That's the time to discuss the work being done and make changes if necessary. It's what I do, well actually my SA does it for me. Getting back to the question about checking for codes, it's not part of any service that I'm aware of. The majority of the cost goes to labor, followed by parts and includes an oil change. Unless you're having issues, there's no reason to check it.

Thanks to CL I bought the cabin filters and air filters for both my RX and my Wife's IS at Sewell Lexus with the CL discount. It's easy to change and saves money come service time. The other inspection items are pure profit for the Dealer and most are unnecessary.
Happy Holidays all.

I had the 30,000 last week at a local Toyota dealer. Total cost including oil change, tire rotation, air filter, brake fluid and full check-up was $235.
(I do the key fob and cabin air filter myself but it was too dang cold here in Chicago for me to do engine air filter.)
No shoeshine or chair massage at Toyota but the coffee was Starbucks and the wifi was excellent.
